312 pilots needed, majority for short haul but some spaces on 744/777 and possibly 380.

If you want to live in the South East of the UK, then it is still one of the best options around. 900 hrs a year is not uncommon at BA now on short and long haul and commuting from elsewhere can bring its own problems.

Worthy of careful consideration if you are considering applying and don't want to live near London, should you be successful.

I've said it before , so I won't say this only once , you will do 900 on long haul , maybe 6-750 short haul , the first 3-4 years a bit of a grind , but you alway have good leave etc , and then you have a LOT of control over your personal life , days off etc , which gives you a lot of family life on the days that really matter . If you are young enough , don't even think twice about it , apply .

Must admit I'm hearing from my shorthaul colleagues that many are hitting 900 hours a year now.. the "LOT of control" I guess is a subjective thing , but as I'm sure you know Bidline's morphing rapidly and there's a lot less control than there was even this time last year...and more changes are a foot.

That's certainly not a reason not to apply, I'm sure it's still a very attractive deal, especially if you want to live in the South east UK....

Fair enough , I gather things are changing . Pity , LH doing 900 , but I suppose Management want to find a way to reduce pilot numbers . SH doing 900 ? Doesn't bear thinking about . If you want family time you would be better off LH .

I can't believe that this was even posted on here. How could an F/O or even more a capt on a 777 even consider going to the UK for one fourth of their current salary, 900 hrs a year and a 15 years wait for a left hand seat is beyond me..

Well said. Many of the Aus/NZ pilots I fly with also say the same about their own 'legacy' carriers.

The Brits would be better off joining EZY. For short haul it's the new BA and only 650-700 a year plus a great share investment scheme. If you love your wife and want to be home each night what's not to like?
