Best place for Fly Dubai Interview.

Hi all,

I am about to send an application to Fly Dubai next month when I have my ATPL unfrozen and I see there is a few different paces where the assessments are conducted IE CTC, Dubai etc, my question is do I have a better chance to get in if I do my assessment in Dubai? I have read a lot of negative things about the CTC process! guys not getting in when they do very good interviews have tons of experience etc, they say CTC is biased as they want to keep the FZ contract so will deliberately only let through 50% of a group even though all are worthy of the job so the demand continues for them to conduct interviews! thats all I have heard not what I am saying is happening myself!

How would I best try and secure a DXB interview if this is the case? Also how difficult is the process compared to say the Abu Dhabi airline or Emirates? some say very relaxed some say extremely difficult!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Try Flydubai assessment in Istanbul with another agency which has recently started assessments for them.My friend was invited last month and was selected.

Accommodation, transportation was provided. He described process to be very straight forward, unlike CTC offering non rated, British preference.

CTC and Dubai myths

1. CTC was exclusively conducting ALL recruitment for FZ until Jan 2015. There was no separate Dubai assessment process. The few assessment events that did take place in Dubai were also conducted by CTC. From now on, at least some assessments will be conducted in Istanbul. Whether CTC is still managing those events as well is not clear.

2. I have flown with pilots from all over the world at FZ who passed through the Southampton assessment, and I know a LOT of pilots who came to the Dubai assessment and did not make it in. So despite what everyone would like to believe (that CTC is British-biased and it is all a huge conspiracy) there is no real evidence for this.

3. The best place to get your assessment is the one you feel most comfortable with: the cheapest, easiest to get to, the place you can feel more familiar with.

4. The assessment is not super difficult but it is something you definitely have to prepare for. The main FZ thread is full of valuable feedback from candidates, so I suggest you read it for information (not OPINIONS) before going to the assessment.

The assessment in Istanbul was conducted by another agency meccti and it was conducted by senior guys from flydubai, conducting fair assessment.

If anyone thinks ctc was not favorable to british or non rated pilots, check the number of non / rated British pilot that have joined flydubai. ctc main business model is to reject rated experienced guys to make money on type ratings and flydubai assessment course.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the helpful info, do you have any idea how I go about applying for the Istanbul assessment? do I apply through the meccti website?

Just to confirm you understand, the type ratings for non-737 pilots that pass the assessment are conducted by CAE in Dubai, not CTC - two completely different companies. Since FZ is paying CAE a lot more money to prepare these guys before line release, I would imagine that the incentives are in place for CTC to provide MORE rated guys, not less.

Also, there is no denying that there are a lot of British guys (mostly non-rated) who did in fact join the company but you must take into account that most of these guys were leaving turboprop operators in financial trouble in search of a first jet job and found a rapidly growing company willing to pay for their type-ratings. They all more than cover the requirements set by FZ, and the assessments in Southampton also happened to be just a couple of hours train ride away for most of them. So there is no conspiracy, just opportunity. Besides, 737 rated guys with the experience required are just more likely to be in jobs that they wouldn't leave to go to the Middle East.

The application process and website (through FZ) seems to be the same as usual so it makes me think that CTC is still involved at least in managing the logistics and backend of the assessment process. MECCTI's involvement is unclear, but maybe they are just hosting the Istanbul assessments while other assessments remain unchanged. In any case you would just apply to the FZ website and once you pass the online screening you would then presumably have to choose where you will attend the assessment from the venues available at that time. Good Luck.

If there were incentives for CTC to provide rated pilots why many who are currently flying B737 were rejected? 87% of them. I am sure many on this forum can confirm that they were rejected on the basis on unknown reasons. Bottom line CTC does not make big money from assessment but from type rating business.

If Flydubai is a new form of UNICEF, to collect guys majorly from troubled airlines then they should announce is clearly so people don't waste their money in travelling to do assessments with them.

As for Istanbul assessment i have confirmed information from this agency that they are not a part of CTC and CTC does not have any control over assessments in Istanbul. It is also confirm that senior guys from flydubai will be there again to monitor the process directly. No one from CTC is involved.

Good Luck

Nothing internally announced about the Istanbul details. So can't help you with any details. We currently get lots of guys with a turbopro background and cadets. Around 5 f/o's upgrade monthly and I believe the required amount of pilots for 2015 is around 120-130ish. The fact is that we are slightly short of crew (both seats) due to a rapid expansion and nowadays many deadhead flights and some additional nighstops. And more and more of the same to come for 2015.

It's a great job here IMHO but Dubia is expensive, it's non commutable and as a junior expect lot's of night flights and unsociable hours. Whatever you do DO NOT compare it to any other M.E. mainline carrier. But for a 737 job it's great.

Have you considered that the rated pilots were not good enough? Didn't communicate in English to the required standard? Didn't display the desired attributes for a pilot in a multi-cultural environment? Do you know what FZ is looking for? And where exactly did you get this 87%?

You can believe whatever you want, and I'm not defending CTC for their performance as recruiters, but your CONSPIRACY THEORY about them making money off of the type ratings makes no sense because of the FACT that it is not them that goes on to train the succesful non-rated guys, CAE does.

I wonder how many rated pilots have to fail assessments in Istanbul before MECCTI become the next evil empire?
