EK 3rd daily to BHX
Hmm is there really such a huge demand? I muss confess that I'm surprised
Hardly surprising; Brum is the second biggest Indian city on the world.........
Or was it Bangladeshi? Or Pakistani? Just musing😳 |

Horaaaaay, another opportunity for a short walk to topup my pork pie and bacon supply....:ok:

I think it's 20 million people that live within 2 hours of Birmingham as soon as the airport can cope a 380 will be heading there.
The limitation on the 380 is that BHX is a 2 class destination and the 2 class A380s are far more likely to be heading to India before they are heading to Birmingham. Same thing I know, but you get my drift...
FYI the new BHX flight is 3 class. EK would put the 380 in tomorrow but the airport is not ready yet, the runway requires sweeping after the 380 departs which means a 10 minute delay on arrivals and departures. It won't be long it's TC home after all!
Also, there'll be even less freight carried on a 2 class 380 than a 3 class.
I'd be surprised if many of those 1st Class seats will be full... But nevertheless, I stand corrected.
Certainly won't be with staff travel pax....

The outer engines of the 380 are 51m apart, the runway at Birmingham is 45m wide so the outers are outside the main runway surface. As there's a risk of debris being blown onto the runway and causing a FOD hazard, precautions are taken at some airports. H-D |
There is also the issue that if the 380 lands on 33, it's wingspan infringes whilst its taxiing back to the terminal, at least that's what was explained to me, and hence nothing could arrive or depart until it's almost on the gate.
