Emirates Accomodation Fines

Evening everyone. Well I have never felt the need to vent on this site before. I do today. Just received notice of a £500 salary deduction for a fine for building a shed out in the garden in 2008. No discussion, no permission required for the deduction and no notice in order to pull the shed down etc. Thought the company had dealt with it back in April 2013 and clearly they havent. Joy of joys. Looks like we have no say who takes money off us now. It really is turning into a pleasure working here. Once again the job rules our lives. Perhaps ISIS will move in next door. Will they get fined too? Oh sorry I forgot they are practically next door anyway.

PanAmFalcon 20th Oct 2014 16:38

I agreed with you but no need to bring ISIS into your shed matter. ISIS isn't next door since Saudi Arabia is next to the UAE.I sympathize with you but don't exaggerate the situation by claiming that ISIS is taking the next flight to Dubai.Security is as strict in the neighboring nations as they would be anywhere because most first world countries depend on the region for cheap gas.

Just got the email too. Not a happy chap!!!!

Desdihold 20th Oct 2014 19:10

Could this be a move by the company to have properties returned to their original state in perpetration for The properties to be returned to the owners?

TransitCheck 20th Oct 2014 19:42

Where is this.....Ranches, DSO, or somewhere else?

jack schidt 21st Oct 2014 02:03

This scheme is simply a money grab by the company. We all make our gardens look good, we all do things to our house to improve it and the new tenant would no doubt much prefer to keep the shed or other additions.

But, this allows the cimpany/department to make money by doing this, every department in EK is out to make profit and reduce costs year after year.

Not your house

The point is that its not your house and approval was required to erect sheds, if you got approval you have no need to winge.:=
Seems to be a big pastime in DSO of tennents spending up big on a house they only occupy.
If someone made additions/modifucations mostly unapproved to my rental property, I would be pissed off and would want it restored to original condition.
Please dont carry on like twits with self inflammed ego's just because you are outside your home countries!

Blah

My word I didnt realise there were people out there who thought so much of themselves that they appointed themselves god. Interestingly I have been here since the start of DSO when there was no approval needed for outbuildings though I sought it anyway; and got no reply to successive e-mails to accomodation. Also it didnt "cost me big" as you suggest as i built it myself. The only "twit" with a "self inflamed" ego round here would appear to be you. I suspect that you are outside your home country too but it is a personal choice whether you want to make your life comfortable for the long term or just live like a temporary resident for the short term.

ChillinInTheDesert 21st Oct 2014 04:18

New joiners are still being moved into DSO, have one new family in our street, so I very much doubt DSO is next on the move list. Not any time soon, in my opinion.

Mullet

I would be pissed off and would want it restored to original condition.
As the company requires this anyway when you vacate and will charge you for the pleasure, this is a totally different thing

If bigjet77 can prove he applied and has all the paper trail, it should be possible to escalate this in his/her favour.

If anyone can prove there was no requirement, I'm sure copies would be appreciated :ok:

I have to go with the Emirates is desperate for money to pay off the Big Boys. Why else are they tightening the screws on us and stealing our pay raise?
The price of oil is dropping faster than a Russian whore drops her dress and the company is still taking items for us.
Don't forget pay backs are Hell. Big Jet don't forget who has their hands on the throttles. 500 dhs can easily be make up on one sector. I know the money won't go in your pocket but it won't go in the company's either.

yoyonow 21st Oct 2014 05:09

I think that you may find this has more to do with recent Dubai Municipality regulation (Building permit and Building Completion Certificate) than any malicious intent from the company.

As ever though, the implementation and management of the process leaves something to be desired....

Wizofoz 21st Oct 2014 06:52

I was at DSO for seven years. Yes, we were told "You need approval to put in outbuildings."

Point was, as Bigjet has said, no amount of contacting, phoning or even personally visiting DSO HQ would get you any information as to how, who or where to make application for such approval.

I don't know of a single case of anyone getting an actual approval, OR an indication that an approval had been rejected.

So, Mullet head- actually the name says it all....

bigjet77 21st Oct 2014 06:52

I have had a reply from a senior manager to say its being looked into.A few years ago there was an email floating around saying anyone who had an old shed from pre-permission days could keep it, with new sheds requiring permission. Just attempting to get a copy of it. There is no paper trail for not needing permission as there was no DSO HQ and hence no real rules. Certainly there was no mention anywhere of needing permission for a stand alone shed. Mine sticks up 18 inches above a front wall sloping to zero in 6 feet! That is their issue I think. I volunteered to move the roof line 4 years ago and again heard nothing.

I stress that this is not Emirates driving the fines or punishment of any description. It is DSOA but sadly the accomodation department have very very poor management and communication methods and seem to think they control my salary. That is what is the major issue.
Had I needed permission to build I would have got it. You are also correct in stating that the house will be put back to original condition when I move so whats the issue anyway???

sluggums 21st Oct 2014 11:04

0.86 it is then ✈️. It doesn't help but it'll make you feel better?

Schnowzer 21st Oct 2014 13:52

Take the bar and still out of the shed, remove the pub sign and you should be ok :ok:

Kapitanleutnant 21st Oct 2014 16:40
