Ek phone interview

Good afternoon.

I've got a call five days ago from the Recruitment team of Emirates to perform a phone interview.

I haven't got time to do it, I told the men to call me next day, but the didn't call me.

Anybody knows how to try to speak with them?

I've tryed to call to the same phone number that they called me, but nobody answer me..

Thanks

It's amazing how quickly the recruitment team can determine how skilled a person is at English, both spoken and written. I certainly have from your post!

Harry are you english?

English is my first language, if that's what you're actually trying to ask. As is about 55% of EK pilots. The remaining 45% speak English to the required level 4 or above. Many hopefuls are good pilots i'm sure but if you can't communicate effectively on the flight deck, your skills are wasted.

Maybe the tone in the post was somewhat condescending and for that, I apologise. It was a genuine question I know and at the very least we should treat all of our professional colleagues with basic respect and manners. Anonymity is not an excuse for rudeness.

English is not my first language and i am sure it is evident but good manners don't use only one language.
I am part of that 45% and believe me we are forced not to understand english only but also american, canadian, kiwi, australian and something more.......
Believe.....sometimes it is really amazing how the same languagencan be so different......

There was a time , not too long ago , that EK was doing phone interviews to check English language ability , they may be doing that again .

Oscar84 27th Mar 2014 15:55

They called me again the same day few hours later after the first call, but I was still flying and my phone was off.

That's why I am asking if there's any possibility to speak with them

I work in a Hungarian company, I know that my english is not the best one, but I got the level 5 few weeks ago, just only trying to know most things

Codpiece, writing and speaking are two completely different animals when it comes to language. Can't remember the essay part of the English proficiency test.

Oscar84 27th Mar 2014 18:04

I dont understand your message...
What are you trying to say?

harry the cod 27th Mar 2014 18:49

I think he was referring to me Oscar!

Panther88's implication was that writing ability has nothing to do with spoken ability. That may be true in some cases, but it does reflect an overall confidence in using a language that is required for reading and understanding systems and Company SOP's. Basic proficiency results in having to speak so much slower than normal, be very clear and direct, not use slang, hints, humour or any other subtle forms of communication.

With Oscar's somewhat confused reply, I rest my case.

Harry

It might be worth noting that the recent influx of Spanish F/O's within the last 18-24 months has resulted in a severe curtailing of further recruitment from that part of the World, simply due to poor English.

Ok.

Thanks for your help.

Just keep going, and waiting a new call...
