They just won't leave!
Check your NOTAMs all. In case you missed them last time the Red Arrows will be doing another display in Dubai. This time centred on the Palm PDZ runway, kicking off at 1630lcl, Monday Dec 2nd.

Good. Pity he's not doing it from the Royal Yacht Britannia. |
They'll be flying by the 7's too.

The arrows turn up from time to time in their trainers and do the same old ho-hum display: formation loops and barrel rolls. Very old hat.
For a real show, you cannot beat the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds flying their front-line, afterburning combat aircraft. Anything else is a waste of time, with the possible exception of the Frecce Tricolori who also fly trainers but somehow inject a lot more flair into it. Shame about Ramstein but they do an awesome show. ..........then there's the Saudi Hawks, so-named because of the sounds they make in their O2 masks. |
For a real show, you cannot beat the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds flying their front-line, afterburning combat aircraft. As for front-line aircraft; they may well have afterburners but both teams fly such clapped-out, non-current front-line machines that it makes your statement a nonsense. Yes, the F16 and F18 are front-line aircraft but not the marks flown by the display teams. The Frecce Tricolori and the Patrouille De France both do a decent job but it's less difficult to do the same job with fewer aircraft. |
US teams are more about the showmanship, the pilots and crews, they are to boost recruitment to the services. The Blue Angels web-site has mug shots of the team. Seems clean-cut identikit lantern jawed college kids get to be the pilots and diversity tends to be in the Enlisted ranks. Meme is that anyone can do this, just visit the Navy recruitment office :O
Red Arrows are the best at the flying display. Generally used to promote the UK, rather than the armed forces alone. In this example they appear to be trying to flog UK built aircraft, Typhoon and the new Hawk. UK also have beautifully maintained fleet of WW2 machines.:ok: |

For services to PR and a gesture on national day.

Pontius, to answer your slightly amusing but untimately clueless post, the
Blue Angels fly the 'C' model Hornet and the TBirds fly the 'C' model F-16. Minor modifications and a paint job to get them to combat readiness. This is common knowledge so switch your brain on before slagging off. Even the Russkies have combat aircraft in their team. You're right about the Tbirds display though, it isn't as dynamic as the Angels but the power of the aircraft and the speed and the vertical extent of the routine still puts the show streets ahead of the teams flying under- powered trainers. Not to mention that both the USA teams fly within 3 ft wingtip to canopy whereas the Arrows are miles apart. I'm not saying the brits can't fly but it's chalk and cheese. The US team are much more skilled and dynamic and therefore more interesting to watch. The Arrows display is good but is simply not as interesting as the others and no amount of rah-rah-rah and twirling of handlebar moustache and "jolly hockeysticks" can change that. Get over it. http://www.f-16.net/forum/download/f...7cd159eadb10da |
Great display today over the palm.....thank you. Faultless and graceful as ever....
