This years EK profits pep talk....
 
Have you seen the email from HH telling us how well we are doing and urging us on to greater things to hit the 4.225 billion dirham target? Only snag was that they missed out the incentive to do so.....will we see a dirham of that figure? Based on the last couple of years, I think not....

I think it was pretty clear after last financial year that profit share has gone the way of the Dodo. I expect we will, once again, see results come to within a hair of the threshold. Convenient for sure. We all get a 'well done, be proud' type of pep talk but sorry it wasn't 'good enough' to provide any greater reward.

Pride wont pay the bills....which are getting ever bigger with inflation rising here. An interesting thread on this forum about who can afford to live here these days. Difficult on an FOs salary with rug-rats to pay for. The big Dubai adventure certainly souring lately....think that morale in the workforce needs a mighty big boost to reach these stratospheric profit levels being mooted because we ALL know that only the annointed few will see anything of them, judging on recent previous years.

On a related subject, my colleague was chipped on a recent line-check by the chap in the jump-seat for using full reverse and not S/E taxying...
His response "did I pass?" "yes"......"thanks for that, great points regarding the taxi and reverser...I'll remember it next time May rolls around" and no, he wasn't an Ozzie

Well considering the new CC contracts don't have profit share I think R.B.S has hit the nail on the head with regards to one.
Even if one did appear - not for CC because 'we can't give it to some and not others'
All propaganda B.S :* Like the EXPO thing in Safar 'Emirates fully supports bla bla bla, the dignitaries were greeted at the door and ensured they had a wonderful time on board bla bla bla' :ugh:

I bet no one knew about the free iPad and iPhone they all got?!

Burn more fuel and call in sick a lot.
As far as I have thought about this is the best way to stick it to the company and probably the only way but I am open for more suggestions.

Falcon I like the mentality of your friend. I don't see a lot of EK pilots sticking it to the company but every little bit helps.
You say he wasn't Ozzie but we all know he wasn't from SA or Canada either, those pilots have no balls.

You might have dropped that last comment to court a frenzied reaction from the Boks and Canucks but don't compare their intelligence to yours. I doubt they'd rise to your bait. I wonder how big your balls are to repeat that next time you fly with one!

As for calling in sick, that will demonstrate what exactly? Burning more fuel will achieve what outcome? What it proves is that you couldn't give a damn about your colleagues who get called out for your selfish and worthless protest. Restrictive rules will be further enforced because people like you abuse the system and rumours of warnings for excessive sickness will in deed be substantiated because you'll be the one getting them. No doubt you'll spend all of your flights subjecting your unfortunate captive audience to pitiful stories on how unfair the Company is. Your infantile fuel policy will merely highlight to him, or her, what a complete and utter tool you really are and how incapable you are of following simple SOP''s or just flying the aircraft to even the most basic standard.

We're all pissed off about profit share. We're also bright enough and realistic enough to ignore the hype and bull**** that increasingly surrounds this Company but that should never be an excuse for screwing your colleagues.

So yes, I do have a suggestion. Act like a Captain, grow up and be professional. If you're incapable of being a suitable role model to your F/O and crew, then at least have the decency to leave and find gainful and happier employment elsewhere. Somewhere where profit share is paid every year and where racism and ignorance is accepted.

Well said, BYMONEK. I am certainly no cheerleader of this operation, but I do see something I haven't seen in years from those at the head. An actual affirmation of the contribution of the employees and their importance to the success of this operation. Sure that doesn't pay the bills, but it seems to be a slight shift from TCs usual musings about our "great modern fleet, network, IT, ICE, etc etc", with never a mention of the employees.

LHR rain, that is a sad comment from a professional. Only recrimination can come from your suggestions. I really hope when I staff travel that the captain is making decisions using his brains and not his cajones.

TU--exactly!!!

EK could get a lot more out of staff, especially pilots, if they would treat their employees with some respect.

A few simple things:

- get back to proper rostering, with bidding and lose the restrictions
- fix the leave bidding so that it works like it once did
- go back to 82 hours

That last one--not holding my breath. But the others are essentially costless!!! We have a company that looks only short term (savings) and can't see beyond the next year or so (bonus for mid-sr management). (I should clarify that to say flt ops, since I am nor sure other departments are run the same way)

What will certainly start costing (and already has) is the simple fact that most people just don't care!

They don't need to burn more fuel etc to 'show' their displeasure. What will cost EK is an apathetic employee group and that is what I see now.

Our FA's, who are the tip of the spear in customer relations, have already cracked. Ask anyone customer who has an history with EK and they'll tell you how our service has declined.

The fix is NOT money! They all came knowing the wage. But simple issues, the biggest being rostering, have an immense impact. In the case our cabin crew just fixing the rostering system so in their top bid months they got what they wanted would keep countless crew, keep them happy and reduce sick days.

I could go on - but the fact is that the majority of the issues are costless or close to it and I simply cannot see why they continue the way they do!

But their unwillingness to effect those changes costs them one way or another.

Trader, there is one word in your post that hits the nail on the head - RESPECT

This company has no respect for their employee's and they feel they have no need! As long as everyone keeps doing their job they don't care if you feel respected or not.
As far as going at LHR, I don't think he's got bad ideas - but as per a recent message from Kevin Griffiths to all the CC in the company - there has been far too many sick days recently from cabin crew apparently and they're not happy. The CC need to stop being sick :ugh:"Stretched to extreme's having to take people from legal days off" "creating issues for rostering and all that are involved" :mad:

You can't take people off a legal day off because that's exactly what it is...a legal day off! If he's printing stuff like that on the portal, maybe a screen shot to the GCAA, CAA, FAA and any other AA may be in order. If they didn't work them to the bone, gave them what they bid for and employed sufficient numbers, they might not be in such a mess. Stop marking them absent and removing them from flights when they're 1 minute late would also alleviate this self generated problem. Hardly rocket science.

But that may mean having to give up their bonus when the budget is exceeded, a sacrifice most senior managers would not accept. When it comes to integrity vs personal greed, the latter wins almost every time.

Having said all that, when 500 confidential reports and ASR's are received within 3-4 months highlighting certain issues, maybe they'll listen. Apathy is our worst enemy. Crew DO have the ability to influence change, if they can really be bothered. Moaning doesn't get you far, reporting may get you further.

I suggest that too....... it's called "professionalism", something lost on certain individuals that skulk around on this forum.

"Going deliberately sick and using more fuel" what Eff*** planet are some of you on?? I am absolutely amazed that some pilots think this is a "new" concept to show your contempt towards your employer. Been tried for 40 years and never has it changed a thing.

How many fill in forms where you are asked what you do??? Do you select "professional"... that is what is expected of any self respecting pilot when we pin the wings on.

This assessment of EK's mid year results kinda supports what many already believe/know; slower second half, therefore no profit share should be expected.

Kinda sorta, it predicts slower GROWTH in the second half, with revenue and thus profits being flat.

That implies getting close to the target- HOWEVER we got close last year, EXCEPT they then gave the Dubai Government a 1B dividend- something that doesn't seem to have been costed in the half-yearly results.

Not budgeting on any extra this year-again....

Guys….. EK had a record profit last year and no profit share. What makes anyone think we will EVER see another profit share?

I'm guessing we will see a .25% raise next year, and we should be happy with that and go back to our hole where we sleep and fly 92hrs a month.

I think it's quite disheartening and a bit disappointing that they fail to give us a token bit of profit share yet they have no problem throwing around billions of dollars on aircraft, etc.

I expect it's 'disheartening' for your maid to get 2000 dirhams a month while her kids are living in Manila. As someone who left EK (after a very brief career), I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for those who endorse the system by remaining. For years EK pilots had a pretty cushy deal and most were happy to ignore the massive inequalities rife within the UAE because they were some way up the greasy pole. Now, the gloves are off and pilots are disgruntled that they are being treated in the same fashion as a Bangladeshi labourer i.e. 'This what we can pay you and if you don't like it.....'

Just keep taking the cash for as long as you can put up with (or ignore) your environment. Alternatively, grow a pair and get a job in the civilised world.
