Emirates B777 vs. A380 First Officer Requirements
 
Hi all. Can someone in the know at Emirates please explain the difference between the normal requirements for First Officers and the requirements for A380 First Officers? The First Officer requirements make explicit reference to P3 time whereas the A380 requirements make no mention of this. Does this mean P3 time is acceptable to meet the requirement? Or perhaps the A380 requirements are in addition to the normal First Officer requirements? I’ve cut and paste the requirements below. Any help would be appreciated.

Requirements for the Position of First Officer

- A minimum of 4000 hours total flying time (may include 25% P3 or FEO time to a max of 500 hours)
- A minimum of 2000 hours multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft (P3 time cannot be used for this requirement).
OR
- A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time on a modern commercial multi-engine, multi-crew aircraft jet (P3 time cannot be used for this requirement)

Requirements for the Position of First Officer A380

- 3000 hours multi-crew, multi-engine jet with MTOW 50+ tonnes which must include 1500 hours and current on modern fly by wire Airbus aircraft
- Full ICAO ATPL
- Unrestricted Class 1 Medical

AFAIK the 380 DEFO requirements are hard time. You must have 3000 hours of P1 or P2 of which 1500 must be 318/319/320/321/330/340/380.

A: I could be wrong
B: This is EK, things change rapidly
C: I can see a possible problem already, do the small buses weigh 50+ tonnes?:O

Hmmm... I'm not sure about the 318/319s. However, relying on my extensive aviation knowledge ; ), I can safely say that the 320/321s meet the 50.0t requirement (MTOW of 77.0t and 93.0 t respectively).

At the moment ,some of the new pilots have 5/6000 + on 320 including LHS

Fatbus, that's interesting. They're recruiting some pretty experienced crew. It probably also means that I'm well out of contention for years to come!

K Grind there is no logic
 
There is a wide net to enable the catch to be landed easily.

If you fit the basic needs, hen you stand a good chance.

UAE is fun, but certainly not logical or predictable, this applies to all companies.
