Buying property in Dubai

I'm planning to opt out soon and buy a 1BR townhouse in Jumeirah Village Triangle. Anyone of you living there? Thoughts about the area and any tips etc. appreciated! How many of you EK guys have bought own aptmt. or villa instead of renting? Cheers.

Bought 8 years ago. Rode through the ups and downs. In the end it is a better deal than company accommodation, provided your mortgage installments are anywhere close to the allowance. If you then sell the property for more than your original down payment plus AED 1.-- - you are in the money.
Don't make it the anchor point of your retirement plan though.

Thanks MrMach. According to my calculations i've paid the whole mortgage in 7 years, ofcourse provided that the allowance stays at least where it is now. Plan is to be here about 15yrs.
