Prince Alwaleed's tricked out 380
|
Complete BS story. He sold it on to the Saudi Royal family a few years back. They have no use for it & it's sitting in storage.
But the guy is keen on as much coverage as possible and is not about to refute any of this hot air. Similar article in the UK Daily Mail this week here but its complete hogwash; isn't happening. But it makes for a great story. |
4Holer,
i thought there was some kind of legal issue with this one... Photos: Airbus A340-642X Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net so the Kingdom Holding A380 is off the table? |
Read the storey again!! For the word tricked read "fitted":hmm:
|
Why not just give that ammount of money to cancer research or hundreds of charities in africa's etc...
He'd be very limited in his movement with that moster anyway. Utterly useless! |
Flaphandlemover, google the Saad group and you will find out why that A340 is subject to legal proceedings.
Under the present Saudi leadership, there is no way that they will spend the money required to retrofit the A380. Mutt |

I completely agree. Why in the ME do they always need to have the tallest, biggest, most expensive, vip, vvip, vvvip, etc? Inferiority complex? |
Which completion facility will put their head on the block to go to contract on this aircraft? That is the question.
|
A non-issue as there as absolutely no plan to put a contract in place.

4PH - you sound very sure. What is your source?
|
Rest assured, 4HP has his facts right.
|
Is it Alwaleed or Aladeen?
|
So why are they looking for crew for it?
|
Payscale. Considering that it will take about two years to outfit an aircraft like this, I would have thought that it was premature to hire pilots.

the artical didnt mention anything about the bar. I want to know how big is the bar?
|
We will see. Whoever owns it wont mothball it, so one day it will surface somewhere

Whoever owns it wont mothball it, All were purchased in a different financial era. Mutt |
I know of one 748 that went to the desert recently, but that was for installation work, it's now in Europe for an interior. I don't think anyone will ever see a VVIP 380 out there for a long time.

|
Yah....that does indeed appear to be in "temporary storage"...:ooh:
|
Can anybody explain why Alwaleed has sold his A380 to the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia (i.e. his realtives) and why?
Maybe he might look at th 747-8I insted (there have been several VIP orders for that plane..) |
Tax reasons? Bwahaha :O

Maybe the King told him that it's not appropriate to fly a bigger aircraft
than the King! |
Thats so old school
It was the rule, yes, but now its based on the size of their tower.
And Kingdom holding has a BIG one..... glf |
