Emirates - flight benefits for family

For those at Emirates - what are the flight benefits accorded to family.

Is the business class open to employees that are non-revs or off limits? Dare I ask about First class?

Also, are parents included?

F/O gets Y/J tickets, CPTs get J/F tickets. Same applies to the relevant relatives of the respective pilot.

Eligible relatives for single pilots are: Father, mother, brother, sister (2 sby tickets a year (ID90/Cat A), unlimited confirmed (ID50/Cat C))

For married pilots it goes like this: Unlimited tickets (Cat A/C) for spouse, children under 21 (under23 if in full time education). Father, mother, brother, sister, children over 21/23, father in law, mother in law gets 2 sby tickets a year (Cat A) and unlimited confirmed (Cat C))

I havenŽt joined yet, just taking this from the info doc from Emirates. For the Annual Leave Ticket you get for free on top if this it is Y upgradable to J for F/Os and J upgradable to F for CPTs, but children under 16 are not eligible for upgrade.

Can anyone actually working confirm if you can still book a firm Cat C ticket in J-class for a child under 16?

Orangewing 30th Jan 2012 12:05

No cat C J class tickets for under 16's.

Schnowzer 30th Jan 2012 12:09

Not true, Capts kids better behaved than FOs so their kids get J before 16.

lospilotos 30th Jan 2012 12:33

Well, hopefully I will reach captaincy before the kids turn 16 so IŽll make the best out of Y-class until then. Y-class that is better than some other airline's J-class IŽve been on...

What is the minimum age for kids to fly UM on EK concession tickets?

Plore 11th Feb 2012 04:59

Minimum age

I think the minimum age for UM is 12 but I'm speaking under correction. You can't however book your child as an UM in Y/J class while you fly J/F class. Either you or your spouse has to accompany your children in the class they fly in.

My son is also under 16 and due to this we always have to fly Y although I'm eligible for J. Y-class on a long haul is a bummer... in ANY airline.

PS: They can fly UM if youre not on the flight at all ofcourse.

yoyonow 11th Feb 2012 07:05

I believe minimum age is 5. Mine certainly were, and probably not sensible younger than that!

Plore 14th Feb 2012 16:39

Well Mullah, I yet have to see how the 2 year old of a Capt is genericly less likely to cry than the 2 year old of a F/O or an Engineer. I'm not saying I demand to be able to travel in a higher class or have the same priviliages as a Capt, just that it would be nice to keep on traveling in the class I would normally be allowed to travel in.

I do agree that it's a crappy rule. BA allow their kids into Business or first from 12 onwards, That's the age that an 'adult' fare applies so I guess it seems entirely logical.

When I was an F/O, I twice travelled with Lufthansa as you can pay for J class tickets for all the family. Standby only, though you can check loads. Staff, both ground based and in the air were superb. Highly recommended!

ps And they serve pork products! ;)

40&80 18th Feb 2012 09:12

Guess you refuse to eat the fish Harry?:ok:

Poire 18th Feb 2012 17:48

Halal pork is available

harry the cod 21st Feb 2012 16:03

Just changed, 13 is now the age where kids start behaving, apparently!

As far as I can deduce from the documents EK sent me the lower limit for sending kids on their own on concession tickets is 16 years, business class or no business class.

To use the UM services of EK available to kids 5-16 years you will need to buy a full ADULT fare ticket...

Crew Rest Seats

I've heard that staff/family often have trouble getting a seat due to full flights. Can anyone advise if ALL the 777's and 330's have Crew Rests. And is it an option to use these, especially if on a 2-crew flight.

Thanks all.

Wizofoz 1st Mar 2012 02:34

No they don't all have CRCs, and no, you can't use them (or Cockpit or FA jumpsaets) when the flight is full.

The 777 CRCs are only bunks (no seats) in any case.

Just a question, for a single pilot is it possible to add a friend (male/female) to the tickets benefits? In my airline we have the "Annual companion" figure, is there something similar in EK?

Easy Ryder 19th Jun 2012 02:46

Nope you can't add friends

dv8 19th Jun 2012 08:55

During the induction process at EK the Staff Travel brief take great pleasure of showing a slide in BOLD underlined in colour

NO TICKETS FOR FRIENDS

:ugh:

Ghost_Rider737 20th Jun 2012 14:45

I'm not concerned about the class of ticket , the question is how many Confirmed ID 100 tickets do you get ?
