Bahrain internet

Could someone just verify that Bahrains entire internet system is crap and its not just my inet, or my service provider (Mena).

It was running fine till around two Fridays ago, and then it was like someone just pulled the plug on the bandwidth. Now my inets going off and on every hour.

When it is does run websites take forever to load. This happened once before and persisted for about a month or so before it magically repaired itself and everything went back to normal. Is it me, my service provider or Bahrain's internet in general?

And before someone asks me if I've used up my bandwidth, no I haven't I have plenty left.

Had Mena before but it was rubbish(very high ping) changed to Batelco am very happy with it.

I have Mena, same problems. Pathetic....
Sadly, I can't get Batelco or would have changed over long ago.
Are here any other good options over here?

Mena here. No problems since the start, stable and able to watch HD livestream with 4mb package. 1/3rd of the cost of Nuetel. Happy customer.

A buddy of mine used to run a telco in Bahrain and to get the license they had to sign an undertaking to xxxx to allow them to listen in to the traffic at ANY time.

Batelco was very stable until about 8 weeks ago and then it all went a bit pear shaped with intermittent access, curiously around 1430 - 1800H which occurred on a daily basis for about 4 weeks.

Now it is pretty stable with no interuptions.

Had Batelco- was mostly fine. Had Zain mobile while the troubles were on- no problems. Switched to Viva when I moved- was ok for a few weeks then went downhill- almost unusable, never knew if it would stop whilst you were using it etc. so had a hissy and switched to nuetel- absolutely no probs for the 2 weeks I've had it (but it's not cheap).

Avoid WiMAX/3G connections. They are no substitute for a decent ADSL connection.

There are no wireless products that can compete against a solid wired ADSL connection in terms of quality and stability.

My 2 cents are Lightspeed. No problems from the beginning until a year ago when I left Bahrain.
