Hour depending. Fly around 85 hours gets you between $10,000 - $11500 (after tax and EPF contribution).

Difficult to spend this amount of money here. Plus the outfit has some good perks.

Like no Staff Travel or ZED tickets???

Staff travel: currently unlimited ID90 with AXM and 6 ID90 with AAX. This is about to change however. Also, new commuting roster on the way.

Please tell us: Is it true that you are still having to pay for your in-flight coffee and sandwich? :{

I'd have to say, improve things first then come back and tell everyone how good things are. you can go from page to page on pprune looking at people who were promised this or that by their airline and then nothing.....So ID travel on your own airline is not enough to swing it..the chinese pay more and already offer the commuting

I used to work for a Chinese owned Airline "pay more"? don't be fooled. The Chinese invest on cheap labor.

Yep, I've got friends there too in China. It's up to you what you want in life and career. Jump around or have a good strong solid foundation, good living condition and great lifestyle. Some companies are there to use you and some are there for you to be part of it. It's when the going gets tough, what actually happens.

What else do you need. Earn USD 14000 with DXB/HKG/SIN cost of living or USD 12000 in Malaysia?

Housing is the least of your worries. Generally there's loads range of choices for everyone. From USD 500 for a samll villa somewhere nearer to the airport area to USD 1500 that generally gets you a really good quality villa or apartment in a gated and guarded community. Schooling varies, it ranges from USD 5000 a year upwards for an international private school. Petrol is at USD 0.60 per litre. Cars are expensive due to the import duty imposed. Its approximately double the cost from europe. Public transport are readily available and taxi services are not expensive. You can still buy a car for USD 10 to 20 k. Taxation is currently pretty low as it is only based on the basic salary. And thats how they have structured the salary.

Humvee generally what you say about Malaysia is true but things in Malaysia are and will be rising as the Govt cut down on their subsidies! How on earth did you get USD 12,000 if you're not a trainer or working around 115 hrs and doing approx 52 or more sectors in the month? You definitely can't do that month in,month out can you? Give the facts as they are and let's not spin the truth too much???In any case how often can one do 100 hrs as there's a limitation of 1000hrs over 12 mths and 100hrs in 28 days.
As far as the basic salary is concerned tax is fairly low eventhough places like S'pore have lower taxes for expats and here's the all important BUT, there's talk about the inland revenue(malaysia) taxing the allowances as the Govt is downright broke! If that happens well,not only will no one come to AA but many already here will be seeking pastures new.
It's not all rosy as Humvee has painted it but there's definitely worst places to live.

Any age limits there? Just did an interview in Panama, and I always liked Malaysia. IS that on Airbus equipment?

Humvee your salary quote is definitely lobsided, Airasia is performance based you dont fly you dont get paid - period - They pay basic plus 25 hrs once you are online. If you figure on $9000 usd average in airasia that would be more realistic. Malaysian gov going broke so don`t expect to see the present prices for too much longer most subsidies slowly but surely getting reduced with a view to eliminating all together. At the moment income tax is 26% on basic but rumors are abound that due gov predicament, tax MIGHT INCLUDE sector allowance, if that happens wow i can see whole bunch of guys packing up and leaving.

I've heard from a few guys, that a more realistic salary is around the $8,500 to $9,000 cash in hand - and you earn a lot less than that in months where you take vacation ... I don't know where this $12,000 thing is coming from :confused:

can the crew live in Penang and fly from KL ?? would be a dream situation..
