Etihad roadshows- what to expect
 

Hello,

I plan to attend the open day/roadshow that Etihad is hosting, and I've got some general questions on what to expect.

Firstly, what's going to be done there? Just presentations all day, or will they be interviewing as well?

What should one bring? Logbooks? Reference letters?

What dress code is expected? Business casual? Tie? Suit?

Should I fill out an online application before attending?

The roadshows are more of a screening and info session, the interviews are normally only done in Abu Dhabi.

Depending on how many attend, there's usually more than one informational session. Some history of Abu Dhabi, UAE, Etihad, etc. A review of the package, pay, benefits, housing, entitlements etc. Growth plans for the fleet and the airline in general. You'll most likely be given the opportunity to ask some direct questions.

Afterwards we went to a separate room where we were asked to fill out a basic info sheet detailing flight time, experience, type ratings, etc. They took the names of quite a few and gave a choice of interview dates to others. Logbooks not required.

Yes over recent years a Boeing or Airbus type has been required, however they have hired non typed in certain cases.

I don't know if they will relax this requirement, however current fleet expansion will bring on 20 narrow bodies over the next 3-4 years, and almost as many widebodies. This is pre 787 and 350 deliveries, and includes only 2 of 10 380s.

I think doubling the current amount of pilots is a conservative estimate.

I know my next question will be hard to answer, but how do they want the flight time broken down? Is there a standard DGCA format? I ask because I'd like to do that in advance so I can enter accurate times.

I am an Expat pilot and i am considering to join Ethiad. But i have no info concerning the selection process, the real minimum hiring requirements(apart from those that indicated on their-Etihad web site). I would really appreciate if anyone who had an interview experience lately can provide me with some details of it.

Stupid question: Does Etihad still require Airbus time in type for their A320 FO position? I know the website says yes (hence stupid question), but just in the rare case, has it changed?

Yes they do.

Is Ethiad roster commutable (to Europe) or definitely not?

No, the roster is not commutable unless you are RH. He gets to go spend every weekend back home in London. The rest of you will be stuck in Abu Dhabi.
Ask these questions at the road show..
Is there a pension plan?
How many flight requests/days off can you request a month?
How many annual leave tickets do you get?
Can you take all your leave at one?
What is accommodation like?
What are the standard of hotels you stay at? (Particularly Geneva, Paris)
How many roster changes a month can you expect?
Is the roster published in a fair and transparent manner?
How is overtime calculated?
When was the last bonus paid? (NOT PROFIT SHARE, BONUS)
If you choose your own housing is the allowance paid all at once?
