Can a QR pilot get a job with EK?

Hi,
Does anyone have any confirmed info on whether a QR pilot has applied and been successful in gaining employment with EK?

And also, on the online application status, does 'not successful' mean just that or is it a 'computer says no' comment whilst your application is being assessed?
It's only been one day since it was submitted and was thoroughly scrutinised before hand!!!

Fact would be preferable over speculation :ok:

Thanks guys!

You can - but you'll have to resign from QR and wait 12 months (anti-poach agreement).

Then you'll have to pass the assessment.

Hope this helps:ok:

I thought there was a gentlemens agreement between qr and ek not to hire each others pilots.
Someone can confirm?

Read the post above yours:D

The one that says......

Then you'll have to pass the assessment.

Well there was a QR 777 guy at an assessment day a couple of weeks back and he had to resign from his post before the interview but there was no 12 month waiting period first!!

Don't really see why you would need to wait 12 months, if you've resigned before the assessment then it's hardly poaching, after all there's no guarantee of a job!

There's no speculation there, I met him and that's his story!

Thank you for the info, it's very helpful if a little frustrating to hear! :ugh:

I'm not sure that this 'agreement' is reciprocal, however there is not much traffic flow the other way to test this.

What does gripe me is that I now appear to have someone else dictating to me what I can and can't do with MY career. I may not be selected at the end of the day but I do want a fair chance at it. Grumble over. Them's the breaks. Further investigation needed.

Does anyone have a contact number or email to the Pilot Recruitment Team that I can politely enquire to? It's always worth asking, (confirming!)

Many thanks,

20% payrise? :{

Sometimes they slip through the net to interview - ie haven't been truthful on the application or an oversight.
However, they will not be offered a job until 12 months have elapsed after leaving QR- assuming of course that they were successful at interview!

Sounds stupid I agree, but that's what hands were shaken on at a very high level so I hear!

WK,

I have a good friend who was totally upfront, resigned from QR, applied and was hired straight away. Now a 777 TRI.

Not aware of any 12 month wait. What is your source for that info?

R20c 14th Jun 2011 06:39

I went to an open day a few weeks ago and a guy from QR asked that question. He was told that he needed to resign and show the resignation letter to EK with his application, was not told anything about 12 months.. he did so and has an interview date soon...
I hope they did not lie to him and 'forgot' to tell him about the 12 months...

donpizmeov 14th Jun 2011 16:55

Wiz, I think you will find that was then, this is now. Quite a few of your ex AN mates came to ek from qatar, but this was some time some time ago right?
WK is very close to the source, so may well know what is happening I should think.
Also remember that some road shows are telling people to expect 4 years to command. So be careful in believing everything they say.

No sweat Don, always happy to cede to more recent information.

Interesting development though. Wonder why EK agreed to it, as I would have thought it would be one way traffic.

knightrider 14th Jun 2011 20:23

Emirates has left a few Qatar guys hanging saying they would interview guys once they had a copy of the resignation letter.

The policy changed to 12 months after leaving Qatar on the 12th JUNE 2011. :ugh:

Not to blame EK but this agreement was probably proposed by QR as so many good guys are leaving Qatar.

Etihad is now looking for any B777 or Boeing guys and they don't have such a stupid agreements, EK lost is EY gain. You will get a interview without having to resign :ok:

Capt Bubbles 10th Jan 2012 12:33

Rumour has it that this anti-poach agreement between Emirates and Qatar is about to come to an end. Can anybody confirm this??

Iver 10th Jan 2012 13:26

Recently perused Linkedin and saw an EK 777 FO who formerly flew A330s at both QR and EY. Perhaps he made the jump before the anti-poaching agreements.

It's pathetic that these airlines have to have these informal agreements - how about you improve your conditions and pilots won't be tempted to jump as much...
