Emirates and cholesterol
 

Does anyone here know anything about cholesterol and passing emirates medical??

My cholesterol is around 220 and i have been taking approved cholesterol leveling medication.

With medication, my cholestrol is around 146. My BMI is below 25.

During Emirates medical check, do they want you to continue taking your medication? or do they want to check your real cholesterol without the medication?

If i stop now, i am afraid my readings will be inaccurate.

With a cholesterol of 220 you would be dead! Max cholesterol is around 5.0 or so! Maybe you are talking of different units cl65.

EK want to see your cholesterol managed in some way. Medication is OK however they look at your total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and tryglicerides readings.

Your BMI should be around 25. Exercise will raise your HDL and lower your BMI with a bit of luck.

BMI has to be below 30. Not too sure about cholestrol. Good luck!

OZ mate, there are different ways to measure cholesterol.

The only max for recruitment is BMI, so you may not have any problems other than your own personal ones

I had the same problem with roughly same numbers. BMI at the time of interview was slightly above 30. Probably because of cholesterol or BMI or something else on the ECG I was later told to do a stress test. So, cholesterol under control is not a big deal. BTW, as I heard almost half of the adult men has this problem to more or less extent although not everybody knows about it. Be honest with them - it's quite natural these days.

Guys, his cholesterol is 5.6 mmol (220/39). He is using the American system.
They will look at your overall health, blood pressure, glucose level, stuff like that.

I don't work for Emirates, but I just renewed my GCAA Class 1 medical today.

My BMI was 26, and I was told if it's over 30 or more, they'd have to do a blood test and check my cholesterol and all that.

FAA doesn't do that... I don't think.

No BMI at FAA (LOTS of guys would have to retire NOW!!!). EKGs after 40. No BMI in Kenya, either.
