Emirates hours policy

Can anyone with any prior experience tell me how strict the 4000hrs policy is, before i waste everyones time and send in an application. I was speeking to a Captain this morning at EK who i've know donkeys years and he is happy to put a recommendation in, but believes it might be a straight forward no.

Is this so?

Thanks in advance and happy new year:ok:

Having had a conversation via email about 3 months ago regarding your very question, I think unless you have AT LEAST the minimum requirements - don't bother. He said that the 4000 hours minimum requirement was set in stone, for the moment.

Unfortunately, there are just so many pilots in the market with lots of hours currently.

Good luck.

At the moment you require at least 4000h plus substantial time on either Boeing or Airbus.

However this might change soon, cause once the market is going to pick up loads of guys are going to bail out of EK. :p
