Emirates Aircraft Delivery Deferrals?
 

Hi All,

I was recently told that although EK would take it's 2009 deliveries of A380 and 777, that the 2010 and 2011 deliveries would all be deferred until later. This would amount to some 22 aircraft. Obviously this would impact recruiting and upgrade dates for the long suffering FO community. Anybody able to confirm or deny this rumour or give more details?

I'm afraid it's not a rumour. You are correct in that from the start of the next financial year 2010 that A/C orders will be deferred.
Company said that if the situation worldwide changed then they would up the delivery rate.

The main reason for the deferral is because EK has to pay progressive deposits on the A/C leading up to delivery, something they don't want.

that says "according to a manager involved in aircraft acquisition", that this rumour is true. :)
