Xbox 360?

Hey guys. Just curious if anyone uses Xbox 360 in Dubai and if so can you use xbox live from there? I know the voltage/hz is different there, so I'll have to buy a power pack for that part of the world if I bring mine over from N. America. Would there be any issues with NTSC to PAL for the TVs there with regards to the games? Any info appreciated!

Now you understand why everybody is advising to think twice before moving to the Middle East and to carefuly review all essntial matters before making any decision?

My young brother uses one with xbox live without pb but as you said there might some issues with the NTSC depending on your TV.

Almost all the new TVs play PAL & NTSC. The game shops sell both NTSC & PAL Xbox games. X Box live works as long as you set it up in your home country. The problem you may have is the power adaptor may be 110 volt only and you will need a 220 volt one.

Xbox live definitely works over here but you aren't supposed to transfer your existing profile to a new country - and as such you can't pay for your continued subscription with a M.E. credit card or one that the mailing address is a M.E. address. So you either lose all your gamerscore, friends list etc, or else you need to keep a US credit card active with a US mailing address, or use someone else's card back home to pay for the sub.

I wouldn't be bothered dealing with converters for PAL/NTSC or voltage or whatever if I was you, those things are so damn sensitive to dust and voltage fluctuations etc I blew up my English one only a few weeks after I got here ... take my advice, pull your hard drive off and bring it with you, sell the actual machine on ebay before you come out here and buy a new one when you arrive, they're cheap enough (Dubai duty free AED 800 for the basic model I think).

I am using my xbox 360 with the same converter for more than 2 years, without any problems. Just buy a converter with at least 300W of power. The weaker ones will die and might take your xbox with it. :}
Buy a few live gold cards before you go, so you won't have to use your credit card for purchases - do buy them in US, because the card codes are different from one region to another, so you will not be able to use the local ones.
If you want to use your xbox fully, you should have it connected to a hd or hd ready tv, so no worries about pal/ntsc anyway. :ok:

Oh yeah, and buy a cooler for your xbox. They die often even without one. I'm using the one with three additional fans on the back of the console... Xbox 360 Nyko Intercooler. :ok:

I plan on taking my x360 with me as well from the U.S. Reading your info, correct me if I'm wrong, all I need is the box, gold card membership cards.. when I get to Abu Dhabi simply buy a power converter right?
