EK 777 delays & more DECs?

Does anyone know if there any truth in the rumour that there will be a delay of up to 7 months in 777s deliveries?

If true, what will the effect be on upgrades with an existing delay of 3 months already in place?

Mister Warning 14th Jun 2008 17:31

Yes this was confirmed by TCAS at the trainers' meeting last week. Seems the delay is with the galley manufacturer not Boeing.
There will be no recruiting on the 777 for the rest of the year.

Silly me. I was going to reply "EK 777 delays? Damn near every *** flight."

Commiserations to those unfortunates just about to do their upgrades, but on the bright side, (not that the poor FOs want to hear it), it may allow for some consolidation in the fleet.

More DECs?!?!

Just heard another nasty rumour of a batch of US 737 DECs on the way despite the 777 delays... any info?

If so wtf, there are more than enough of our own pilots to fill any forthcoming command slots...

Flying Spag Monster 17th Jun 2008 05:16

Do you really need to ask yourself that question??? You know the deal by now.

Marooned,
Don't believe every rumor you hear.
With families returning home for the summer, some guys have nothing else to do than spreading evil rumors.
You should know that after some recent incidents involving DECs, this will certainly NOT happen. Check the seniority list and you will see on average 1 or 2 DEC's PER MONTH.

as for the B777 delays : Good news. At least some of us get some more peak leave.;)

fourgolds 17th Jun 2008 08:06

5 star , I would'nt be so sure of myself.

5star 17th Jun 2008 16:37

Four golds,

I always look at facts, not at rumours. And the facts ARE in the seniority list, right?! Plus, do not forget that apparently a few guys also reversed their resignation decision and are now showing up as CPT on the bottom of the list again.

we shall see....
5*

I dont think EK would get disadvantaged by a Galley builder im sure theres more to this . But you will never know.

Trader 19th Jun 2008 02:43

Fleet office says no delays.

Mister Warning 19th Jun 2008 06:46

That means Fleet Office not advised of delays - not that there are no delays!!

Marooned 19th Jun 2008 07:05

5 star; hope you're right. I wouldn't like to see many of our own pilots severely 'disadvantaged' if delays and DECs are more than just a rumour.

EK 777 Delays

Only a four to six week rolling delay till the end of the year and yes this is due to the late supply of galleys.

nitro rig driver 19th Jun 2008 16:42

Just fly the planes with no galleys

The foods crap anyway

777 delay facts

Sell ramp-up problems hits Boeing 777 deliveries to Qatar Airways
By Max Kingsley-Jones

Qatar Airways has confirmed that deliveries of 777s are being delayed by a month.

Airbus and Boeing are trying to deal with the impact of galley supplier Sell's production problems, which have already caused some 777 deliveries to suffer one month delays.

According to industry sources, German company Sell - a major buyer-furnished-equipment (BFE) supplier to the world's airlines - has been unable to expand its production fast enough to cope with the ramp-up across airliner assembly lines. "They've been swamped and it's a mess," says one customer source.

Both Emirates and Qatar Airways confirm that deliveries of 777s are being delayed by a month as Boeing awaits the arrival of galleys.

Qatar Airways has six 777s due for delivery this year and says that it has been told by Boeing that the next three will be one month late. The airline adds that it is too early to know if the later 777s will also be delayed.

Boeing confirms that it is "experiencing delays in deliveries from a galley supplier" and says it is "working with the supplier and airline customers to resolve the issues".

It's one month then.........

Y not

LAX and SFO start one month late

Los Angeles starts 1st October and San Francisco 20th November due to the delays. Too bad for me, I will have top bid month in Sept (original start for LAX was 6th Sept) and wanted the LA's to visit friends.
