Hey Bobsinclar,
Don't bother applying.
In EK, they expect their crew to be able to speak & write reasonably good English.
Best books for you are on "Basic English Grammar"!

Bob,
I think sandcastle has been in the sun too long.
Check out www.emirates.com, it has all you need to know about what you need to get a look in to the selection process.
For the interview all you have to do is be yourself. It is not a hard process, but it is thorough. There is a book on the process, but I am unsure as to how up to date it is .Try posting on the Canadian or UK forums as I am sure someone there will know where to find it, and how good it is. Also search PPRUNE as a lot of info has been posted on this matter in the past 18 months or so.
Good luck.
Don

Hi Sandcastle,

Thank you very much for your message.

So what`s wrong with my english? Maybe you`re gonna be able to help me to improve my english language skills and to give me some advices before my interview.....??
I would be very happy if you could do it for me.

Thanks in advance ;)

Don

"For the interview all you have to do is be yourself." Oh really....?

Did you mention the crew song, or the scream assist? :D

Hope you're having fun in the sand.

double,
Flare assist is now an automatic call (not quite the same really!). And I might have forgot to mention the crew song, but besides that, (and maybe just a few tiny other things), it was "be yourself..." .. or was it someone else??? Best I have a beer and think about it.
email me and tell me all the latest news.
Don ;)

Would it be possible to "exchange" minimum total time for knowledge of the Arabic language and a couple of university degrees?

bobsinclar 7th Nov 2001 02:21

Hi Joaquin,

Unfortunately i don`t think that the minimum amount of hours can be exchanged.
Of course arabic language skills and a degree from university will undoubtedly a plus when you`ll reach the interview phase, that will show than you know other things than your pure aviation skills and that you can integrate a firm like Emirates without any problems.

But i`m sure that you know, like me , that there are many pilots working for Emirates (captains and F/O) that don`t speak a word of arabic and who have never been to University, but they had probably a lot of flight experience and were evaluated as good and safe pilots for Emirates.

So to conclude i`ll say that if you reach the minimum amount of hours required you`ll have an advantage compared to other applicants with your degrees and your arabic language skills.

Good luck...........

Let’s be real – “be yourself” is making it sound a bit too easy. Go and buy a book on psycho tests – read it – go take the test without a hangover - and if they ask whether you prepared, tell them the truth – it’s an important test - who would go unprepared? I took it 6 years ago in FRA – it was nervous FUN – very professionally done – they even paid dinner – and please don’t go and pay someone for “preparation” – these courses are a scam.

Good luck…
