my salary in EK

Yestarday I got my last pay slip.
Doing a simple conversion I see 3800 euros...that's it... exactly my salary in Europe... 2 years ago..
On top of that there were taxes and a real for life pension... for a total or 5500/6000 euros... Being in Dubai I should make 7000 euros plus to make me stand this f*##ed up place!!!
Can somebody explain me the concept of tax free...
Cause it looks like Emirates ( and the Dubai Government...) simply keep the money in their pockets without giving anything in return....
Ohhh... I'm very happy to know that the Sheik just bought a horse farm in Australia for 500.000.000 US.....

fatbus 27th Mar 2008 05:31

should have done your homework

nolimitholdem 27th Mar 2008 05:42

What taxes?

Just be happy that if it's your last pay slip, it means you get to leave this sh$thole. By chance was that you blowing stuff up in Al Quoz? Nice work!
:ok:

furbpilot 27th Mar 2008 06:04

Well...last... means March pay slip ...still staying in the ****hole...not knowing for how long..may be back to India...if situation doesn't change.... Al Quoz..yeahhh I saw the smoke...thought it was you ... good job...anyway..you are right.
Mhhh homework.... well I did' not have a crystal ball...how could i know that the us dollar was going to plounge so much against the rupie...

dubble_dubble 27th Mar 2008 06:07

Kennytheking 27th Mar 2008 06:17

furbpilot,

Best give us give the full picture.....a simple conversion shows almost 1000 euro missing from your pay? Telephone bill? Staff travel? Car? 3 Weeks leave ie no flight pay?

Not sure what you mean about a real for-life pension? I have a pension at EK and I am happy with it. Perhaps you should talk to some of our older american counterparts to find out more about the value of for-life pension plans......

Perhaps you would care to tell us what your disposable income was 2 years ago after you paid your rent/mortgage?

5star 27th Mar 2008 09:59

Kennytheking,

He Kenny you might be a King but you do have monkey maths skills.
I get a bit more (4000). Based on 5.85 rate, incl ERP and incl FDP.
1K Euro more. Haha  Check the stuff you're smoking buddy.

Kennytheking 27th Mar 2008 10:20

5star,

Ya, sorry, you are quite right. The converter I used is outdated.

I do still stand by my comments regarding the pension and I would be interested in finding out about the disposible income after rent is paid in Europe......

Been here 10 1/2 years and with HSBC, first time my salary was not in my account by 11am on 26th of the month. Credited one day later for some reason ??

furbpilot 27th Mar 2008 13:27

Kennytheking...

Well in India where I live you rent is 1/5 th of what this abibis ask for their assbuilt aparments in Dubai.... I forgot to mention that my salary was for 14 months. State pension for life..i mean a pension that no matter how the financial market goes when you retire at a minimum age and with a minimum years of contribution you will get up to 70 per cent of your last salary until you die,,, not the peanuts i will get when...and it will be soon if they don't give a decent pay rise... i will leave here. My disposable income was between 3800 and 4500 rupie per month net..and since I own my house ...no rent. School and medical are provided for everybody for free.. in India like it is supposed to be in any place before you can call it "civil". Emirates has to do something cause a lot of people is thinking as I think..I did not came for the lifestyle... ( the "being stock in traffic for half of the day" style..?) Sure is not only Emirates fault cause they can't control the exchange rates...but when I read Mr Suwaidi declarations on inflation being due to lack of apartments I get really really pist... Does he ever go to the Marina at night... 90 percent of the apartment are f###ing EMPTY!!!!!! The only reason they don't re-evaluate the Dhiram is because they have massif amount of unsold properties that reached due to short term speculations and excess of greed .. scifi prices...in Dirhams. Hold on.. tight...I foresee a MASSIVE bubble burst... I saw the smoke ..i thought.. that's it...!!

ShockWave 27th Mar 2008 14:38

90% of apartments unoccupied is nothing new, it is just the way it is here. Money laundering, cashed up investors, and part time holiday use could all be reasons.

nolimitholdem 27th Mar 2008 23:09

hahahah! Good luck ALLRIGHT! Another one cracks! Don't worry, it's like lancing a boil, leaving Dubai/Emirates....only hurts for a sec, and then the relief floods over you like a cool wave...ahhhhh....

@fatbus,

What does your "homework" say about about the USD six months from now? Now THAT would be useful comment!
:D

aeromar28 27th Mar 2008 23:22

Amazing how ones expectations change over the years. I'd give anything to be on the right hand seat of a brand new 777!... but I know that one day i'll probably feel the same thing u guys feel.

It might help a bit to remember the days u felt like i do now.

Maslow pyramid anyone?

nolimitholdem 28th Mar 2008 03:31

well, most of 'us' here don't have the luxury of being 25 again and making some better choices of where to work. You, on the other hand, have an opportunity to avoid the same pitfalls. Such as making "the right seat of a shiny 777" any sort of criteria for career goals.

Good luck. You can't say you weren't warned.

You must be pretty desperate to consider leaving Spain. Are you flying for one of the crappy low cost operators like Vueling maybe?
A friend of mine left EK to go and work for Easy in Spain. Don't remember how much but must be 50% more than over here by now. Again feel free to come but .....
Ek is not too bad to work for but money wise you're screwed and lifewise in Dubai as well...

Spain... wish I was there....

my salami 28th Mar 2008 05:02

Sure....!!!! So you can help paying for the social services of the illegal immigrants.... Thanks Zapatero....

furbpilot 28th Mar 2008 15:50

In your place I would stay in Spain...Here is full of immigrants.
Yeah I'd definetely stay in Spain and start a movement to keep alive the memory of Fracisco Franco el caudillo de Espana...and his heritage.
Here there is people from a lot of different strange countries and colors... white and black, light brown, yellow...indians,pakistani, yemeni and bangladeshi brothers, filipino and chinese eating snakes even some italians ( and they imported the mafia..) portuguese ( all this bacalao smell... ) not to talk about French ( bleah...) people smuggling baguettes at corner of the street and german illegaly importing wurstel... And what about those belgian ...they like young pilots.. and the mexican growing agave in their apartment..
Fortunately we don't have to pay for them.
Stay away...you are still young... you could become the target of one of them...I mean the belgians.....

salam aleikum

buboso 28th Mar 2008 16:44

question for aeromar28

How do you think to work for a multicultural airline with more than 80 nationalities and be an inmigrant like everybody?

The problem is not Zapatero and the social system but the racist and fascist people with your ideas.

Anyway, enjoy your belgian as suggested from furbpilot, i'll advise my friend to cook for you a big plate of spaghetti. (you must eat).

Don Vito Corleone, minchia! (The Godfather)
