Emirates interested in buying British airline bmi

An article in todays Daily Telegraph in the UK says that Emirates have been testing the waters about a potential purchase of the London Heathrow operator bmi.

Be better news if they were bidding to takeover Britain which is even more of a mess than BMI.

YOu mean they were interested in buying all those nice LHR slots that BMI has..doubt anything other than that interested them.

Am I missing something? The article talks about Jet Airways..not Emirates!

About the second or third paragraph down it mentioned a middle eastern airline widely believed to be Emirates had expressed interest as well.

EK would outbid Jet just to prevent them from gaining a key strategic foothold.

Imagine it- flights from a dozen Indian cities to LHR going on to a dozen US and Canadian destinations. It will gut EK's traffic to both the UK and NA.

On the other hand, Jet will have to base crews in LHR - now that's a thought! Plus your tax paid in India so no money to the UK taxman:ok:
