WHITH ALL OF THIS CHOAS IN GF SHOULD YOU STAY OR FOLLOW YOUR ESCAPE ROUTE ?? PAX STRANDED ,NO ANNOUNCMENTS FROM MANAGMENT,NO NEW AIRCRAFTS ,CHEAP TICKETS , MY AIRLINE MY COUNTRY CRAP.......etc..:confused::confused:

If you read the VPO letter you will be surprised on how is this airline will survive for the next year.
He is not giving any importance to the TEC issue its like it will solve by it self.

so think of stay or leave??????????????

it seems that soon 330/340 will have a huge surplus crew as our VPO mentioned in his email. so the best solution he came up with is to send all of us with leave balance on forced leave.now the question is why should we be paying the price of their misplanning? I dont think its fair and no one should go on forced leave. my solution is let the company buy the leave.

Accrued leave is a liability on the company books, if you leave they have to pay out against it. Company policy is that no-one (and that includes flying crew) should accrue and carry over more than five days at the end of the year. If you have not used it, that is your own fault unless the company has denied you an application. Forced leave, or rather asking you to avail of your leave as soon as possible, is an offensive (i.e. reducing liability) step for any company to take in circumstances where it is warranted. They could always take your leave balance off you if you did not follow policy; I would suggest you make the most of it and take it before they actually do decide that you have forfeited it.

Excess crew????!!!!! you must be joking. With a stagnant and most probably shrinking airline doing seat sales how can there be excess crew? Enough pilots left in the summer and fall exodus. So the ones that reversed their resignation should be crapping. They cant go back and the airline that baited them to stay no longer needs them. Who tallied the pilot numbers for that plan? Who is making the plan for resources? Must be one of BN's appointments. Have any of them panned out? Should we make a list.....
The reality is the airline was running much smoother without a CEO for 15 months. There is no disputing that. yes it lost money but with the rookie mistakes that have occurred in the last 6 months it will be much more costly in the long run.:D:D

The 'surplus' pilots for now is a temporary matter, caused by the withdrawl of three 340s, one each of the 320 and 330, and a number of 767s. The flying will increase in January, when at least three or four Airbus planes return to service.
The 767 fleet will dwindle, and the pilots will be transferred to the Airbus in the new year. During that phase, there would be small periods of 'surplus' pilots, till the new round of resignations kick in (the smart ones that have waited for the salary hike) and the two A321s from Jordan.
GF has been very decent on not forcing leave on its pilots, unlike a lot of other carriers. Be thankful for small mercies.
Whether it is a good or a bad place to stay is subjective - to each his own, and the door is wide open, and there is little gained by writing about known problems in this forum. If one is so upset by the goings-on, then it is better to try the greener pastures, if I may use that term for the deserts around this place!

there isn't any greener pastures out here, gentlemen. just more of the same crap. if you think you can work one outfit against another, forget about it. the carriers are many steps ahead. same ****, different airline.

I left Gulf Air three and a half years ago. It was the start of a mass exodus and there were half a dozen who went to the same airline. Apart from the guys who were a bit skinny on experience, we have all upgraded successfully. A few have even gone on to check airmen status very quickly.

It is a golden age of quick progression and I would suggest First Officers floundering in an airline going nowhere, professionally foolhardy.

Apart from quick professional progression. The standout experience at my new airline was how guys stick together. GF was very 'contract world' in attitude amongst pilots ie: " I'm alright Jack how about you? ".

Good luck to all. And my outfit needs pilots. I'm happy for PM's and can assist in applications.
