Gulfair emergency landing

Any details regarding the below quoted from GDN?!!

"Mr Al Kooheji confirmed reports that a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain to Kuala Lumpur had to make an emergency landing in Thailand on Friday.
The GF 280 flight - whose 189 passengers included Bahrain's national football team en route to their match with Malaysia tonight - developed a minor technical fault 15 minutes before landing, Mr Al Kooheji said.
"Yes - it was a technical issue with the aircraft and with us safety is paramount. It was nothing serious. It is the captain's call and we respect that," he said"

What the.....??

Does this turkey Koheeji think he is running GF singlehandedly? Does he not have faith in the people under him? Does he get off on seeing his name in the media?

rextravels 28th Oct 2007 15:50

I believe he like to see his name in the media, the other thing he does well as do the other board members is ignore emails and calls directly to them.
Al Kooheji, has no understanding what a chairmans job function is, he feels he is some great aviation visionary, who in fact knows nothing about the aviation business.

salahabuali 28th Oct 2007 16:16

This is confirmation that GF is no more than a Kindergarten in disguise

Icarus 28th Oct 2007 18:46

And will remain so until all the dead wood avail of the VRS - but then again, most won't 'cos they they know they will never find another job and thus will continue to be millstone around the company's neck.

jackbauer 28th Oct 2007 18:49

Just remember chaps that according to Mr Kooheji, leasing an aircraft is just like buying a car. Make sure you end up with a Boeing and not a Toyota!

knowsup 29th Oct 2007 08:00

No update from BN? He is the PCE,,,,No? Did he know the incident took place? Oh right VP tech jumped ship how else would he know. The crew are starting to report right to Koheeji. How do you spell doomed...B-N. And please do not flip the question around by asking ME how to spell it BN. Once again the GDN is the update service for GF staff and crew. There should be a section in FOM for GDN policies. Maybe even put it in AQP for references.

Does a PR department exist in GF ? Have never heard them making press releases to the media.

Propellor 29th Oct 2007 16:45

Of course they have a PR department: their job is to ensure that Koo-hedgy and Be-on-Snuff are in the noose-paper everyday!

It is really sad, to see the chairman is by all accounts running the airline, yet the acting boss is sitting in the corner and again being a yes man.(no wonder they are not looking, they have someone who can be told what to do.)
The whole board needs to be removed, also the current executives, which includes any locals in senior management positions. Then try to fix it.
THE GA Board is doing what they do best, avoiding any upset, until something else happens then they will try to put a bandage on it.
Well then again its not their money and why would they want to make a success of the airline.

jackbauer 31st Oct 2007 03:46

What amazes me is how the spin is being put on these 737's. Kooheji is selling it like they are a new addition to the fleet to expand the company. Fact is they are a long term wet lease, the most expensive way to cover up mistakes in maint scheduling. If someone had scheduled the 320's properly for the long checks this would not be neccessary. No wonder the VP engineering ran away after a couple of weeks. The GF tail is wagging the dog right now and Naff is the dog. Totally immasculated and sitting in a corner waiting for the next pay check. At least the losses are now reduced to just $700,000 a day!!!!:E

Panama Jack 31st Oct 2007 04:13

I like the fact that Gulf Air is not losing as much money anymore as before. The fact of the matter though is that we are still hemoraging money. Losing $700 million a day instead of $1.5 million a day is like drowning 700 meters below the surface of the ocean instead of 1500 meters. It is still not a cheering experience.

salahabuali 31st Oct 2007 05:01

How refreshing!.......

rextravels 31st Oct 2007 11:52

burying their head in the sand, after a few months of the wet lease the cost will start to climb again, if infact winter is their best time then the losses should come down.
Kooheji should be relieved of his post and Naf should also be gone.......

GAGing in Bahrain 31st Oct 2007 13:07

And all in time for Halloween!!!

BOO!!!!!

Al Fakhem Snr. 31st Oct 2007 14:12

Frankly, I think you should shut the airline down, give it a rest then start something completely new a few moths down the road, and let it be known that it does not have to be Bahrainis running it what a load of crap nationalisation is, if anythiing it's the best way to sink the ship and find all the right excuses for it later.

rextravels 1st Nov 2007 10:17

No need to shut it down just, clean house......

brassplate 1st Nov 2007 10:45

i'm all for the national program....as long as the right people are hired.

Mephistopheles 2nd Nov 2007 09:49
