@Boeing777ER,

I received pass mail in March this year as a FTSO.
The way I read it, is the same as you. QR will not assess more FTSO's, but will call the ones the holding pool to join at some point.
Basically, everybody in the holding pool will get called to join in the next 12 months.
I have asked this question to some friends flying at QR, what it exactly means for us (FTSO).
But... you never know with QR! Even though they say they have sorted things out with training, etc... but it's not unusual that the training lasts about a year for a FTSO. I hope that will be reduced.
But you never know what's gonna happen next. I understand that what happened with the Spanair guys won't happen again... but if another company goes bust with rated A320 people... do I need to say more?
Anyway... hope to see you all in Doha soon!
Cheers,
cccc

Hi nicab,

I am a Captain in the pool, and I have not yet received my November update. Interview first week of May 2012, good news and pool email end of June 2012.

iQatar 19th Dec 2012 07:31

Qatar is advertising(recruiting) for DEC A330/A340 and DEC B777. Hopefully all you DEC's in the pool will get a contract/ DOJ soon.

I am still confuse about the FTSO requirement for the next 12 months. You can play "devils advocate" and come up with a lot of different answers.

SO's

There are 100+ SO's still on hold over there. Some did their TQ's but didnt do a single flight yet. I know of some guys that are back in their home country waiting to be called for linetraining. That is the situation at the moment. How long will it clear to take that backlog? No one knows.

Boeing777ER 19th Dec 2012 14:54

FTSO tricky sentence.

Reading the sentences once again, I think that they are referring to the possibility of assesing more FTSO... but the ones that are holding will obtain its DOJ next year.

Once again , I cant see the point in which they decide not hiring any FTSO else with the big expansion is planned for the coming year.

Hope see you all in Doha soon!!:ok:

FTSO & NTSO

In 2013 it is very unlikely to start as a Second Officer. Qatar Airways can only offer their own Students a SO job. Externally recruited personnel (SO) do not get a job offer this year. There is a little chance to get a job in the second half of 2013 but that is on a merit basis from the Talent Pool.

This information came directly from Qatar Airways recruitment.

Best wishes for 2013!

Comm 20th Dec 2012 16:48

Hello All Swimmers.......here is part of an email sent to a friend of mine who has a job offer within Qatar (not flightdeck) and asked about my position....(which is fast track second officer- interview April.....pool news Aug 2012). I too was confused about the Nov update so here is the reply from within (albeit not directly flightdeck recruitment) when my friend asked about my position and queried the wording of the Nov update. It was sent this morning. It has obvious bias towards FTSO as this is my postion.

"As you know I am not responsible for Flight Deck recruitment however I have checked with my colleagues to clarify the message in this email. What we are saying is that the Talent Pool for Fast Track Second Officers will not be increased i.e. so we will not be recruiting additional people into this pool. This differs from other categories of talent where we may need to continue recruiting in addition to the existing talent pool. The issue we have is that our requirements continuously fluctuate across the categories which is why we have not given definite. All in all I believe it is positive as we are progressing to onboard the people within our talent pool albeit at different rates depending on the category."

Good News this morning 2 months 23 days after F/O assessment. Talent Pool update in February.

jeanpaul172 20th Dec 2012 17:30

@Comm

I also tried to clarify the message.
Yesterday I got bad news.

'We are not able to employ Second Officers other than graduates of Qatar Aviation College in 2013'.

This message concerns all NTSO's.

Regarding FTSO's, this is what I heard: A limited amount of them MAY be required after June 2012, these will be taken out of the pool.

Goodluck.

Asked before and never got an answer.......

I have a Feb joining date. What are the temporary living arrangement that are being provided. Is it the Oryx hotel or some other place?

Thanks in advance!!!

ITO 20th Dec 2012 18:09

@ Jean Paule,

And what about NTSO that got offer letters recently then ?

cccc 20th Dec 2012 18:36

Does anybody have an idea how much FTSO's there are in the pool?

Boeing777ER 20th Dec 2012 20:46

@jean Paul

Could you be so kind to copy the whole email???
Please, dont be so negative.
I'm sure everybody will be called.

Tritzo 20th Dec 2012 21:44

Yeah, and we live in pink pony wonderland.
I "heard" similar rumours via phonecalls.

The question is - will we (NTSO) be taken completely out of the recruitment process and have to reapply for 2014 or will we be kept on hold until there is the requirement. Will there be any reassesment in/for 2014 (Heeeellllloooo agelimit!)?

Easy way for QR to get rid of many people in the pool - just keep them on hold and wait for the agelimit to kick in. Problem solved.

Another important question could be: Why send a talent pool update for February to the NTSO if they didnt require any for 2013 anyways?
Options for the answer would be:

1) They need NTSO for 2013

2a) They dont need NTSO for 2013 - they just were to lazy to write an extra email for every application group (NTSO, FTSO, FO, DEC...)

2b) They dont need NTSO for 2013 - someone just decided otherwise

2c) They dont need NTSO for 2013 - they are going to keep us in the pool in case they might need some anyways

2d) They dont need NTSO for 2013 - they forgot to tell us earlier

2e) They dont need NTSO for 2013 - they want to get rid of a big part of the pool (reassessment, age limit, inability to reapply) because they noticed that they interviewed way more people than they will actually need but would never admit it.

Any detailed information upon the issue would be very helpful.

checkthisout 20th Dec 2012 22:04

If that is true then they are treating us like a waste deposit.

Thinking twice if you really want to work for a company that treats its applicatants that way. Usually companies show their best picture to the outside world. Now imagine how they treat their employees if they already treat us like the residuum of a sink.

checkthisout 20th Dec 2012 22:26

Sending us an exclusion of the recruitment for no reason almost equals a termination of a job because one got fired.

The office is closed on Friday/Saturdays, and Sundays usually things get rolling, so I expect bad news to arrive around Christmas.

Not only people in the ME expect us to respect their culture, but much rather they are kicking ours with their feet. Of course only if they notice us next week. But I werent surprised if they did.

And then the company wonders why so many people jumpship or try to get to the other side of the lake to EY or EK. Things probably wont be much better there. But at least a bit. AAB knows he can treat people like waste and still they keep applying. Lets how long in the future that will go on.

jeanpaul172 21st Dec 2012 08:02

@Tritzo

Definetly option 2A

And maybe a blend of all the others.
There seems to be no uniformity as to what is being told to applicants. One recruiter could say: 'wait till feb for news' another 'you will get called in due time' and the one i corresponded with told me 'We are not able to employ recruited Second officers (cadets) other than graduates of the Qatar aviation college in 2013'

The reason why they keep us in the Pool? No idea, maybe they need us in 2014?! Please also note that this concerns Normal Second offficers, not FTSO's. From what I HEARD a limited amount of FTSO's May still be needed but only in the second half of 2013.

WXCptFedUp 21st Dec 2012 08:30

FTNTFOSO whatever

Hi Guys,

Could please explain me the differences between those group. NTSO, FTSO, FO ? Is it only related to the amount of hours or type rating hold by applicant ?
In my email, they stated F/O but I heard you would start as SO anyway...

By the way, It's a few weeks already I've been applying in other companies but without Boeing or Airbus rating, life is difficult for applicants even with more than 5000 Hrs...:bored:

So yes keep calm but it's time to move on slowly and forget about it... My own point of view of course.
