Euro Sky News in Qatar.

A completely non aviation thread topic, I notice today that the usual Sky News in Qatar has changed; it’s now the “Euro News”. Is this because they have failed to pay the BILL and been “cut off”, wonder what the next changes in the TV channels available over the Festive Season will be. It’s very welcome to me however as it’s just like being at home.

Hi Regi,
Honestly no idea, I have contacted Sky and said how disappointed we all are and look forward to being able to follow world news.
Maybe others should do the same, try Kay Burley [[email protected]]

Gone to Firstnet (part of E-Vision) in Dubai, tel: 04 2727777. Spoke to them today and it is Dhs 79 a month for the Sky News package. Don't realise how much you miss it 'till it's gone!!

Typical, it seems. A popular service that has been available as part of a normal viewing package is now charged for as an additional part of the service.
Sky News is free, it’s included in the “Free to Air” package in Europe so why are we it seems being charged to view.
Would suggest all interested parties contact sky and Question the restrictions presently being imposed.

Loss Explained.

For anyone interested the following message has been posted by Qtel:

Kindly note that, the Sky news has been changed to another channel called Euro, furthermore, these changes are from Orbit Satellite Television and Radio network.

Same thing has happened here in DXB - Orbit Television (the provider) just made the change without consulting its customer base.

Like most of you, didn't realise just how much I watched Sky News until now that its gone.

Yup Skynews has been replaced by Euro news on the orbit network but on ART it's still going strong.......

Not being a Brit, I kinda like the Euro News channel better.

OK, I guess I just pinned the target on my back.

Qtel always after the fast profit.

Hi,
No idea now, on past experience it was the service provider that supplied it as a free service, hence it buggering off from the channels available from the standard package on offer in Qatar. It’s now available at extra cost to the customer (with a load of crap nobody wants) good old Qtel always after the fast profit. Euro news is still crap but sky news is still available as a free to air service in Europe along with all the local UK news stations.
