# of people interviewed by EK VS Hired (The bikini wax thread)
Any one knows how many are being interviewed by EK per month and what is a percentage of interviewees being offered a job.

You might have a long wait...
Sorry to disappoint you, but you might be in for a very long wait if you are in the hold pool. According to our management, we have around 15000 to 20000 candidates per month for a pilot position in EK. Even if HR can interview 1000 guys per month, their backlog would grow every month with about 1 year. The only official advice I can give you based on these FACTS is to be very patient...
BTW, Just between us, nothing official here, and please don't go and tell.. Most guys on the interviews applied less then 2 months before. EK is desperate for people. Having said that, the recruitment is still quite difficult. Last week, 6 out of 7 guys were send home after day 1. Although, seeing who comes online lately, it's probably just a matter of luck to get in, a bit like the EK upgrade, kind of a lottery. Not bad if you like games.. Again, don't tell around, I wouldn't want star command to wake up from sweet dreams. (Buzz Lightyear to star command, come in star command...) MR8 |
Just my observation from earlier this year...bunch of middle aged guy's in DXB for the DEC selection.....100 % negativity...and yes they had all passed the Sim part O/seas prior to coming to DXB...
|
And your sources are.......???

Sources
Well, the source for the official part of my post is our well known TCAS (aka little Alan). As for the unofficial part, the rumour, I just happened to know a guy who failed last week (one of the 6 out of 7). Although he told me the story first hand over a beer, it is of course not official EK propaganda... hehe

Not sure!
The numbers seem to vary.
The most important is to get thru the first day (sim) On my group we started with 11 and then the 2nd day there were 7 left. Now they have taken 4, 2 waiting and 1 got the No. A friends group: all those got in, (that got to the 2nd day) Then another group: only 1 got in............... Anyway, good luck, go their, give it your best and be yourself. :) |
10 1st day.
5 2nd day. 3 passed. All the best :ok: |
7 first day
5 second day 3 passed. (2 F/O's, 1 DEC) |
Don't worry oh little poor EK F/Os , there is more then 60 DEC coming from VARIG in a few weeks, all those guys from 777.
EK will always be lucky....:} start to learn your route manuel guys..new briefing is on the way, longer then ever....:ok: |
What a prince...
DEC's from Varig? That should be good for some entertaining ASR's :ugh: |
The ASR's will only be interesting if the person reading them can speak Brasilian, 'cause their eeeenglish is very suss.

Could not have said it better, Seniortrash. And some of the areas where the Varig pilots have flown to and learned to fly, in Central and South America, makes the route structure at EK look like child's play. But then again with a "moniker" like FM, would you expect anything less from him?

The nationality is Brazilian, in the English form of it. They actually speak Portuguese, in various different accents.:E |
I thought a "Brazilian" was a bikini wax....not a pilot named Manual....am I confused here? its happens a lot lately.
|
Here's a handy phrase if faced with a Brazilian babe..
"Você é muito linda" Usually works :ok: |
Hey MaxAB

I assumed he misspelled "manual." Perhaps he meant Manuel, a commom first name. Oh well, what the hell :) |
