EK accommodation in Al Barsha

I had a look at this new development in Al Barsha when I came over for my interview last week. How long until it is ready to be occupied? It doesn't look that bad? Any suggestions on what the go is for new F/O's?

Al Barsha? I believe itīs one of expensive areas of new DXB outside a close condominium.

Al Barsha is a nice part of Dubai, near the Mall of The Emirates (handy if you like skiing) and Dubai Marina (handy if you like eating out). I understand that some of the Emirates apartments there are already occupied by pilots with no children and cabin crew but I haven't talked to anybody who lives there so I don't know what the actual apartment blocks are like.

As an F/O with children you can expect a villa in Silicon Oasis which is, to put it politely, not fully developed yet.

Everyone I know that are out at SO like it.Still lots of work to do, but the villas are nice.A bit out of the way 15 min to Ikea 20 mins to MOE.

IKEA and MOE...the cultural centres of Dubai. Says it all really.

If you dont like it just dont say anything next time. It was meant to give a guy a general idea of its location. What would you prefer Max?

Thank you for your info. I indicated on my joining form that I would like an apartment in that new complex in Al barsha, so hopefully they might give it to me?? Also, when you arrive in Dubai, the temporary accommodation that they talk about is where?

Several locations are in use - none particularly inspiring. In Muraqquabat or Karama among others - but this IS temporary accommodation. The apartments are generally clean and tidy but may be in noisy locations. Some new entrants are put in a local 5* hotel - the Dhow Palace in Bur Dubai is a current favourite. Some pilots have stayed there for 5 - 7 weeks until their villa/apartment was available.

Where are the villas/apartments located?

Eventually we will all be living here www.dso.ae
Makes no financial sense having people spread all over town, when the rents are skyrocketing.

They are all over the city. Dubai Silicon Oasis is the current flavour for those qualifying for a villa - approx one third of the 560 units in the current phase are completed and occupied. Apartments could be in any of the multitude of tower blocks around the city.

400 of the SO villas are for new people, not just pilots.160 were on offer to pilots already here and wanted to move, those 160 are gone ,more or less. As the rest of the 400 become complete guys will move out of temp housing and in to these. If you are new and coming send housing an email they may be able to confirm SO which would help your planning

Bypass ratio 9th Oct 2006 19:21

Dear Fatbus, could you pm me the email address for housing as I can't seem to find it in my documentation?
