GF A340 CCQ suspended

:hmm: It looks like there is no more ccq to the big bus until further noticed...
two A320 drivers previously sent to the A340 sim have been gently called back to the A330.
Any explanations about this sudden change?

LDG NO BLUE 25th Jul 2006 13:06

Not really

The last change is that instead of 2 320-drivers going to the 340 CCQ, one is going 330.

Nevertheless, the DEFO's keep coming.
Only 2 original GF pilots this year! Adding to 2 others now, you can guess when is the next course.

Do you consider this career progression?

It's worth to mention that the first bunch of DEFOs are planned to do the MFF 340 very soon, so the bypass is from all sides.

Brace for impact....no money, no career. :ugh:

ironbutt57 25th Jul 2006 15:17

you must be very senior huh LNB:confused:

LDG NO BLUE 25th Jul 2006 15:21

Senior enough to be bypassed by DEFOs.

IB, do you think hiring direct entries is fair?

ironbutt57 25th Jul 2006 15:56

are you one??? you come here with a type and loads of time on type, or the company fork out for your rating? fresh off a turboprop are we?? is life fair anyway???

LDG NO BLUE 25th Jul 2006 16:09

Dear IB,

I don't understand your "anger".
Where or what I flew before is not relevant!
Fact is that my seniority and many others have not been respected.
How do you expect me to feel?

Latest news the DECs again. So much for the carrier progression.

A company has to give a pilot:
Money or career.
GF is not giving any.

Hate to say it LNB but if you aint happy, gobbing off on this forum is not going to achieve anything. Go and say what you say here to the people who are responsible. If you are still not happy then just leave. It's as easy or as complicated as that. GF is by far one of the best employers in the Gulf and if you don't believe me just look at the DEFO's and DEC's that EK and QR are taking. As Ironbutt said, if you came here with a turbo prop and got a free jet then you have no complaints. Just sit tight and wait your turn.

ironbutt57 25th Jul 2006 18:21

There's no anger here LNB, just disgust at the "spoiled child" mentality running round these days...lots of folks at GF given a chance nobody else would give them, one they begged for at the interview, then 1 year later are whining about it...yes it can be disapponting to see others get hired on to a fleet you preferred, but dont be delusional and think you deserve it...lots of "temps" came on the 340 as well..flyng routes I would have liked to, but it just worked out that way...yes it is pertinent where you came from and your prior experience...GF have given you an opportunity, regognize it as one, or go back to the kindergarten you came from ...:ok:

chrispatrickGA 25th Jul 2006 19:12

Let s forget our divergence of opinions about the GF pilots treatment:O
Can anyone explain me why GF hires some guys directly on A330 w/o any experience on fly by wire aircraft.
According to some GF ground instructors these courses ( A330 direct course)are felt quite difficult by the new joiners and cost a lot to the company...
Then why not hiring them on 320 and make accordingly A320 guys happier?

picobello 25th Jul 2006 19:24

IB : Are you a 767 or a side stick driver? Who care? What LND no blue flew before is definitely not relevant. So back to the topic.

Yes our lovely management has once again changed their mind. No 340 for those 2 guys:bored: but 330. Why this changes?

Jackbauer: CHANGE YOUR CD. Always the same comments......

bird dog 25th Jul 2006 23:02

Congratulations Jackbauer

For the very first time I have to agree with you; it is a waste of time for LNB to moan in this forum, things wont change, take it or leave. I am flying less than 60 hours in Jul roster(340/330 FO) and GF is hiring 330 DEFO, are they REALLY short or it is only inefficiency again?
YES, EK and QR are hiring DECs and DEFOs, some of than from GF. Does anyone know anybody resigning from EK or QR to join GF? I hope JB gets my point....

jackbauer 26th Jul 2006 11:42

Thanks BD but not sure what your point is! As for people resigning from EK to join GF, just wait and see who the new CP B767 is!!! BTW picyournose the same CD because the people who moan here like you, do not have the balls to just go somewhere else and leave those who want to do the job get on with it. Anyone who knows little about the company would think this is a bad place to be. I for one will not allow noisy prats like you to sullen the name of a good job and a great place to live. Is that different enough for you?

ironbutt57 26th Jul 2006 11:49

Yeah jackbauer, this new generation of "Euro-brats" have very quickly forgotten where they came from...

picobello 26th Jul 2006 12:45

Hey listen Jerkbauer :yuk: : As usual the same answer. First of all let me remind you this is a open forum and I will continue to say the true about GF.

Anyone who knows little about the company would think this is a bad place to be.
Of course, the person who doesn't have the same attitude and behaviour like you will undertand that this is a bad place to be.

As for people resigning from EK to join GF, just wait and see who the new CP B767 is!!!
Is it a joke? People resigning from EK to join GF:eek: Wouhaaaaaa !!!! U r a genius Mister Jerkbauer !!! These new guys probably enjoy GF destinations, GF better salary and GF wooooonderful pension !!! :ugh:

I for one will not allow noisy prats like you to sullen the name of a good job and a great place to live. Is that different enough for you?
yeahhh... it's just a dream to be here. The name of a what? Good bl:mad: job... Well, don't swallow too much you might chock :Eto answer your question people like you make me:yuk: A great place to live or to leave? you might live in Juffair "Beach":E

Ironbutt 57 : Without this generation of "Euro-brats" you can shut down all gulf air 320 operation. Am I wrong?:suspect:

jackbauer 26th Jul 2006 13:33

I love it when you guys throw the toys out of your cot. It gives us all a good laugh!!!

Dixons Cider 26th Jul 2006 13:56

Without this generation of "Euro-brats" you can shut down all gulf air 320 operation. Am I wrong?
..correct, you are wrong!

ironbutt57 26th Jul 2006 14:08

haha...yup pico...dont over estimate yourself...

Trader 26th Jul 2006 14:17

I hardly think that anyone can complain about going to the 330 first instead of the 340!!!! That is a rather weak complaint.

I believe they are stacking up on the 330/340 so that they can take the senior FO's and move them to the left seat 320. The current slack will disappear when they move those guys over.

fab40 26th Jul 2006 18:16

GF A340 CCQ suspended

Seems like everyone has lost the plot here. Not addressing the initial issue raised. Grow up you all.

Instead of venting your frustrations here, why not have the courage to confront the bad boys directly. It is a known fact that there is a lota corruption and favouritism shown. Also there seems to be no streamlined approach to the way they do their selection....so either join them or learn Arabic!!!!

LDG NO BLUE 31st Jul 2006 09:25

Don't underestimate the 320 pilot corps

Ironbutt, you underestimate the 320 pilot corps.

If you insist that previous experience is indeed relevant, let me provide you some data that you might not be aware of.

Previous types flown by the 320 guys:
707, 727, 737, CRJ, ERJ, RJ100, Md-80, Dornier, ATRs, and 320s as well. Glass cockpits and if not, medium, heavy jets among your beloved turboprops.
Half a dozen with CMD experience.
The 320 fleet holds enough credentials, guys coming from different environments, different operations, from light-twins to reputable airlines.

Having said all that, I still think that previous experience is NOT relevant. You pass the selection, you get screened then drilled by the Training Department and you become a GF Pilot.
You put everybody on the same standard.

What you call "euro-brat" and "spoiled child mentality", some others see as an increase in flight safety, having people coming from cockpits where the power gradient is not as steep as elsewhere. They will challenge poor decisions made by commanders that treat their co-pilots in an adult to child relationship.
