But not to EK pilots...

TCAS to be guest speaker at Airbus! Obviously going to tell them about the magic of EK Management.

Wonder if he's going to mention:

- in excess of 100 empty new pilot positions (up to August),
- Mr. Ed's prediction of 5 777s parked as of July?

I beg to differ. He once said something like "cost neutral", where absolutely everybody, including himself, knew that this was a straightforward lie.
I find this extremely interesting, because revealing.

Recollect that it was TCK who promoted the 'cost neutral' scam.

TCAS has not had an original thought in the last 18 months. Or if he has, his contract with TCLARK requires him to keep schtum and not rock the bean counters boat.

Is EKs commercial department better qualified to manage Flight Ops than the experienced aviation professionals who are employed primarily to endorse the cost saving schemes produced by middle and upper management? Probably not. And those cost saving schemes are designed to line the pockets of the same managers with fat productivity related bonus's.

If Captain Ed really did say that the new Boeings are going to be parked up in the near future, then, other than LL, he is the only honest person left in the Ops Centre.

Cost neutral is a term thats very dear to all BA managers hearts.

When they want to shaft you, they expect for your to 'fund' the purchase of the greasy baseball bat from else where in the budget. :sad:

Don't be too hard on TCAS. He has been here a few years now, and going by pass performance of EK must be due to be sacked and frog marched from his office soon. Will Mr. Ed be next in line? Perhaps the visit to Airbus is a job interview?

Don ......... I hope you are right.....at the last Pilots meeting Tcas was heard saying that hours do not necessarilly mean experience. Thats when I realised he has no experience.

Hopefully the hours he has spent in his office experiencing resignations may help him realise his mistakes :E


However ..... I have heard a runour TCAS has been with Mr Ed, to talk to our very experienced leader ....A Al R... to point out the large short fall in man power and how difficult it is to recriut at the moment.

so much for TCAS not caring about resignations!! I suspect he cares now.

Airbus already knows the ins and outs of EK without TCAS having to say anything.

They just want to sell aeroplanes and it would be nice if some law would stop just that.

No planes for corrupted dictatorial airlines.

Itīs time BA, Lufthansa and Air France raise the question again to ICAO why it is allowed that the president of an airline is at the same time head of the CAA.

For about the millionth time, he isn't.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is the Chairman of Emirates as well as President of the Department of Civil Aviation which oversees "...the management of Dubai International Airport and its affiliated divisions – the Dubai Cargo Village, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai International Hotel and Dubai Aviation Club." Basically the bunch that pave runways and sell duty-free stalls.

A quick google shows Mohammed Ghanim Al Ghaith as Director General of the UAE GCAA. You know, the regulatory guys.

I find that statement to be very true. Hours alone certainly do notmean experience. How about previous training background? Company standards? etc...I don't find there to be a direct link.

I guess you and TCAS might be correct if you were addressing new Cadets and the EK training college. or talking to a bunch of topdressing pilots at an Airline conference.

but...... I took exception to his statement.

Particually when I looked around the room and saw my colleages, myself incuded, who have thousands and thousands of hours Airtransport experience, from all over the globe. Guys who I have had the pleasure to work with and learn from.....guys that TCAS didnt, and still doesnt, know.

I think for a senior management member to make that harsh generalisation about his own pilot group was very unprofessional:yuk:

If you want to know what I think of the guy. If he has only himself to guage his opinion on .......he is probably correct. :E

I my experience its the office workers who make the worst line pilots and thats why they are office workers:}

Keep that experience up guys.

I was'nt there, but TCAS's statement about hours not meaning experience does'nt just cover EK.

It covers the whole world, we have all flown with Capt X or F/o Y with squillions of hours , who is just piss poor, regardless of hours or where those hours came from....so pick up the teddy and put it back in your pram...

Actually, TCAS's statement about the hours was quite funny, if it wasn't so depressing for all EK F/O's.
Hours don't mean experience, but when asked why DEC's were accepted merely on an experience counted in hours (10000), without having a background in EK that can be checked, as our experienced F/O's have, well, that was suddenly something different. Still don't get it up to today...
Maybe TCAS doesn't approve EK training?? Wouldn't blame him looking at the pathetic amount of it we get (unpaid)... It's all homestudy, and guess who's doing that?? Right...

Strangely enough though there are a lot of guys with over 10,000hrs of experience in the right seat just unfortunately on the wrong type of aircraft..... but third world guys with poor english are ok as DEC's.... go figure that one out!

Something I would like to hear from TCAS.
 
Just picked up my May roster and if TCAS doesn't say something about a hefty salary and package improvement on or soon after the 26th April, I am so out of here.

My issue?

Working 97 hours on the old credit system and getting no productivity payment whatsoever.

So, not only do we not have enough people to do the work, we also have to cover the work for free.

I do not want to work 97 hours in a month, but if I have to, and at the moment there is no choice, I expect to be paid for it.

Poor package = people leaving/people not joining + more aircraft coming= meltdown.

Can top that - Feb roster 3 weeks leave and 43 hours in the remaining week!! Needless to say ... that didn't happen.:yuk:

You sure you are looking at credit and not DUTY? I made same mistake. It isnt the same. We dont get our credit printed on our roster.

Yes sir I am..... under old system we got credit pay for vacation and training, etc....now we do not! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it was 2.5 hrs for leave, 3.5 hrs for sim and ground.... Factor in the right amount of leave, training and up to the limit hours of flying and you get yourself a lovely discounted roster!

In any case, the bonus and pay increace should balance it in the end and cover our "extra" work so we again "break even" in the end.....:yuk:

ah, and just heard, AIR ARABIA, the only low cost carrier in the Middle East, got a 12% pay increase and 2 months bonus a couple of months ago in February......surely EK will not top that......
