GF Pilots: Hindsight Advice!
 
A sincere question to those ex FG pilots out there who may be browsing this forum....

You left Gulf Air for apparent greener pastures. In hindsight and with the clarity of vision that only hindsight gives, are you happy with that decision?

There is obviously a considerable degree of discontent amongst the large majorityof ranks in the present GF crew; allowing for the minority that have found satisfaction here which is a good thing, are you, as an ex member of the flight deck happy with your decision to part with GF, Bahrain, Manama, Juffair, Budaiya?

I only ask as a person whom has found a great degree of personal satisfaction here in Bahrain but a great degree of professional dissatisfaction with regard to my career and the progression I would expect it to have being fortunately associated with an international airlne.

It would be invaluable to hear from guys (and gals), who have been there, done that, got the T-shirt and have the benefit of hinsight.
GF is a great airline, an enjoyable atmosphere that most of the time prides itself in being a professional organisation; however, at times, that has been made evident by recent posts; it is lacking in a disctinct career direction for most people that come here and are looking for a long term style of satisfaction.

Policy changes depending on the whim of the day and the apparent direction of the wind create a huge amount of dissatisfaction and uncertainty amongst well meaning people that, were they to receive some direction and recognition would be happy, satisfied, positive personel in the Company.
It is very hard to map out a career in the Company largely because of the apparently haphazard manner in which pilot progression policy changes from day to day.

A real shame on the Company and the position it holds in the Middle East, as one of the first carriers in the region and the legacy its history bestows upon itself.
I'm only a young buck in the big scheme of things, but its a sad day the old boy on the block becomes the laughing stock and the training ground for all the other up and coming, forward looking carriers that can see beyond next months figures.

Would be great to hear from people who have walked this path and looked at 'greener pastures' as there's quite a few considering following in your footsteps and it would be a shame to throw this away if everyone before us warned us agains such decisions.

this question is one which is very good for everyone in the Gulf air.

In hope this can be answered buy the right people around here. and if anyone questions it then they should be questioned in themselves.

It's good and hopefuly one day this can be resolved for the good of everyone in Bahrain.

Wise words from ironbutt. Looked around but on balance it's pretty good here. The uncertainty and looming over capacity in the gulf fueled by local ego's are my only concern.
