NetJets Middle East

I've been invited to an interview with NJME next month in Paris and I'm looking for information. Like,

What're they like to work for? What's the general atmosphere?

Do they really stick to the advertised 35 on/31 off schedule?

When you're in Jeddah do you have your own apartment or do they put you in a hotel until your next trip?

How many hours per month?

On your 35 days on are you with the same crew?

What's the turnover like? Do guys try to make a career out of it or is it a training ground for the airlines?

What can I expect in the interview? Is there anything in particular to watch out for?

Anything at all would be appreciated - good, bad, or indifferent.

Thanks!

35 days in RUH :{ You had better hope they keep you busy flying to............almost anywhere else!

NJME

ETOPS...
I think you got NetJets confused with NAS...Crew members at NJME don't spend 35 days anywhere......They work everyday, or almost everyday.

No confusion - I know a few guys in Netjets (europe) and the 6 on/5 off work pattern. Just wanted to alert our dear friend EdoKazumichi to the fact that being based in RUH for 35 days will be no "cake-walk". As I said <hope they keep you busy flying> i.e out of the Kingdom as much as poss .........

EdoKazumichi 21st Oct 2005 00:52

Well, I am counting on being on the road most of the time. My question is do they play games like make you stay beyond the 35 days or come back to work early. I like to fly but I also like my time off.

NJME

Fair Enough.
NJME is based in JED, not RUH.....Which is a big difference.....
35/31 rotation is respected in NJME.....They will ask you to stay on for a few days extra once in a while, or come in early....
But it is not compulsory, if you want to make some extra money you do, if you are tired and ready to go home, then you do....
They are a tad short on crews at the moment, once this is solved then extending rotations not really an issue....
And Edo, at NJME there is no time off during your rotation...I do mean this, doing 20 days straight is no surprise....So yes, you need your month off to recuperate.

Could someone please clarify the situation in respect of the NAS BBJ operation as I have been invited for an interview. This is a 35 on 31 off roster, but again, are the days off respected and would I expect to spend a fair amount of time in hotels outside RUH?

EdoKazumichi 21st Oct 2005 09:54

Thanks, crazy_max. That's kind of what I expected. Was on a similar schedule a few years back and it actually suited me quite well. I would certainly prefer to be in the air than in JED, from what I've heard about it.

Any idea on the pay? As an F.O. a buddy of mine was getting $4000 per month (even on his off months) plus $100 a day per diem. This was a couple of years ago. Any changes? Do you know what captains are making?

Short of crews? Do most guys just do a stint with them and move onto the majors?

Thanks again.

NJME HOME TRUTHS

thought better give some people home truths on NJME especially if you are silly enough to even contemplate joining them.
1. You will be interviewed and processed very quickly I'd imagine as they are soooo short of crews at the moment !!
2. I believe that in the last month 3 Gulfstream captains and 2 flight attendants have resigned.
3. You will be told that you fly under far regs 135. When in actual fact it is very rare that you fly anything other than far regs 91. so expect to fly really really long days with minimal rest everywhere !!! 91 is well and good if you are paid accordingly but pay is not good for this type of work especially in Saudi.
4. They do try to keep your rotation however turnover is so great they operate with minimum crews so could be necessary to do overtime. Also remember that although 31 days OFF you are so so tired you need time to recover when home then you have a feeling of dread for at least a week before your return.
5. Recurrent training is done Twice a year in your OWN TIME OFF. (FAs once a year). This is about 12days of your own time every 6 months.
6. Hotels are ok. Hotel in Jeddah just now the crew have had their laptop and watches stolen so watch personal belongings.
DON'T SAY YOU HAVENT BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, viplass. Really good input.

So, pilots come, get their jet-time and go - is that right? And if it is does management see any reason to stop this and make their outfit a career choice and not just a time-builder?

So how many hours do you think their pilots fly during their 35 days?

Where do they do their training? Europe or Yankville?

Thanks again!

NJME

What VipLass wrote is all accurate and up to the minute.
No, they are not going to do anything about it.
100 hours in 35 days is the norm, some times you go home before your 35 days are up because pilots reach 100 hours way before that.
Training is done in the U.S. and Dubai.

viplass 22nd Oct 2005 12:24

Hi EDO,
The company say you can fly a max of 100hours in 30days and it is not unheard off for the boys to reach this within 2.5 to 3 weeks. It is obviously up to the pilot to keep an accurate track of their own hours. I personally wouldnt say that this would be a good career move never mind contemplating a career with NJME. Please don't confuse NJME with the European or American operation...they are run completely differently. Both of these operations operate on specific regulations I believe 91K in USA and JAA regulated in Europe. 91 in saudi has very very few limitations. Some of the corporate operators in Saudi refer to NJME as "Netjets work your arse off Middle East"

comeflywithme 22nd Oct 2005 12:48

Steer Clear !!!

I agree with all that has been said. Unless you are really desperate and have no other options this is one to steer clear off... If you do decide to join then only bit of advice I can give is to wear no trousers so its easier for them to s***t you !!!!

Saudi Arabia uses the FAA regulations, there is no difference between FAR 91 and PCA/FAR 91.

Has anyone got any information specific to the NAS BBJ work out of Riyadh as I believe this is seperate to the NJME Jeddah operation?

viplass 22nd Oct 2005 13:45

quite correct Mutt but if you read my previous post you will see that I actually said Netjets USA operate under 91K. This is very very different to just FAR 91. PCA do not recognise 91K so everything is under 91. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

EdoKazumichi 22nd Oct 2005 13:54

Is 100 hours in 30 days so bad? That's an average of 3.33 hours per day. Is there something I've missed?

To be honest, what really attracted me to this gig was the rotation. It's one of the few outfits I've found that would allow me to fly jets AND live pretty much wherever I want on the planet.

crazy_max, I'm being interviewed for the Hawker and Flight Safety lists Farnborough, Houston and Wichita as learning centers but they don't mention Dubai. Is that for the other aircraft?

Thanks, folks. This is good stuff. Better that I go into it with eyes wide open.

crazy_max 22nd Oct 2005 14:12

EDO

OK, regarding the training...
Hawker is done in FSI Wilmingotn, De. and CAE Dubai.
Falcon in FSI Dallas
G-IV in CAE Dubai and FSI Savannah
Regarding 100 hours a month.....Ok, it is pretty simple, that is the least of the problems....
If you don't have a job or a prospect of it back where you are then by all means try to get a job at NJME.......
If this is not your case then for your own sake DO NOT DO IT.
Can't make it any clearer than that.

Thank you for the introduction to 91K, it makes interesting reading!

EdoKazumichi 23rd Oct 2005 05:59

viplass and crazy_max,

No, I'm afraid you haven't frightened me off them yet. Call me thickheaded.

So the company has this 100-hours-in-30-days rule. Say a pilot shows up for his 35 days on and in 21 days flies 100 hours. Do they then send him home 14 days early or just sit him in his hotel for a day or two to advance the 30 day window far enough to send him on another trip?

Humor me. Believe it or not this place might actually work for me.
