Emirates Application

Last week, after submitting my application with Emirates, I received the following email. Can somebody please help and advise me whether my application is on hold or not?

Thank you for your recent application seeking employment with Emirates and for your time in completing the on-line application form. Your details are now available for review by our Flight Crew Recruitment Team.

You may update your application at any time, by visiting our careers website, www.emiratesgroupcareers.com and selecting 'update application'. You will require your reference number and your email address in order to access your application. We advise you to update your application at least every six months, ensuring that all personal, contact and flight crew details are current.

Having received your application, we will review your details against the requirements for a Flight Crew position. If you are short-listed, we will contact you to arrange for you to attend the selection program in Dubai.

Thank you again for your application to Emirates.

Yours faithfully,

Recruitment Manager
Emirates Group

Thanks in advance for all your help.

No, your not in the hold pool, they will specifically tell you that.

As far as I know all applications get the response you get then after a certain time a review of applications is made and a certain amount will get the 'you are in the hold pool' e-mail.:ok:

Ghostflyer 21st Mar 2005 11:01

Sluggums is correct.

An automated response; your application has been received on the computer but has not yet been scored by the recruitment team. When it has been you'll get another E-mail to say where you stand.

Guys thanks for you response.

In fact the site states that the after applying the application is either on hold or unsuccessful. Th six month update sentance got me thinking otherwise I guess

I just have to wait and see.

Hey Guys,

I got the you're in the hold pool email. Can you ballbark me any ideas about the hold pool? Does that mean they are likely to consider you soon for an interview? How many applications are in the pool at once, best case time frame for an interview etc.

Thanks in advance

sluggums 25th Mar 2005 06:36

It does mean you are up for consideration. However, the pool can be deep and if someone with better qualifications gets into the pool they will be at a shallower depth than you, therefore your time in the pool may be more or less than others.:ok:

Boeing 787 25th Mar 2005 09:50

I received an email to stating that my application is on hold.

Its a waiting game now I guess.

Regards and good luck to all

Thanks Sluggums, I appreciate the info. Good luck 787, maybe see you there

sluggums 26th Mar 2005 04:57

My perception would be that if you are in the hold pool you should almost certainly be called for an interview, I would say within a 6 months to a year.

They may however be people who have been in longer, who can contradict what I said. It's a points sysstem that is used, total time, type ratings, and yes... which airline you are with etc:ok:

Lorry_Driver 26th Mar 2005 10:00

Yeah right, . . . . . i got the you're in the holding pool since 1993 (6,000 hours) until today (11,250 hours + 1,300 P1) and still in the holding pool, . . . . wrong skin color and not from OZ_land, Yanky_land or Euro_land.

The rate is 1 brown asian for every 20 intakes + 1 local (permanent) F/O, to please the Makhtum family, . . . . period, . . . . . so if your brown and asian go join EY.

Good Luck Brownies, . . . any fish fillet to go with your brownies and french fries lads?

BigGeordie 26th Mar 2005 11:23

Lorry Driver, don't worry about it. With an attitude like that you will never get in.

donpizmeov 26th Mar 2005 16:16

Lorry Driver,

Would you be working for one of the over Gulf airlines? Might this be the reason you did not get a call from EK?

Enjoy the A300, and leave that racist cr@p for somewhere else.

Don

Lorry_Driver 27th Mar 2005 04:00

Yo Bid G, . . . . . no thanks, I'm NOT interested any more, . . . . . like it where I am coz the management people are local Arabs and they are nice people - ie NON RACIST like me.

Don Corleone,

For what it is worth I am NOT the RACIST, guess who??? look around you and if you have the time look at Saudia & Gulf Air, . . . . . . who are the majority in these places, . . . . . why don't they promote and train locals, . . . . which is what we Ex-Pats are all about since those colonial days. WE ARE ONLY HERE TO HELP, . . . . . NOT TO PLANT OUR FOOT DEEP IN THE GROUND AND CREATE MORE PLACES FOR OUR KIND ONLY, . . . . matey

Do your job and go home man, . . . . . to me there's only ONE RACE = THE HUMAN RACE.

For someone new to the site Lorry_Driver you're certainly throwing things around - take a chill pill please. In fact let's all calm down please - you will resolve squat by blasting away at each other.

Thanks, 4HP

I guess I am lucky in a way, I am not dark brown, but I am asian.I don't see the things that you mention during my interview.

I have see ozzie, Yankie, and some turkish and 2 asian and some S.A, Italian......on the other group , I see Philipino, Korean.......so I don't see what you said in my interview, maybe the rate has been changed over the year . uhhh!!! Maybe just that month is Asian month for the interview.

Just point to share, everyone come for different reason, for me I just want to change for a new life (good or bad, I will know soon)

I have to agree with SS, I think a lot of people would like to leave, but the financial hooks that the company puts on us for the first few years, plus the beauraucratic BS of biblical proportions to get out of the UAE definately clouds your thinking.

It's not an excuse, but it is a large mental drag if you do want to leave:hmm:

Think long and hard before committing to this place.

By all means come and do the interview, but don't be blinded by the slick 'roadshow' you will receive. If you have friends, or friends of friends, here that you can discuss the place with - then do so.

I came here thinking it was the right thing to do and I have never regretted a career move as much, but, as has been said, uprooting yourself from Dubai/Emirates is not straightforward.

It will cost you a lot of money to come out here and get set up, as an FO you WILL struggle financially(forget saving - your biggest worry will be not digging into your savings every month) and if you then decide to leave it will cost you again.

Its very sad that there are pilots so desperate on this earth they have to work in the middle east.
All airlines here are the same, you arrive and the clamp goes on your leg and it is released only after months of bull**** even a credit card with 0 balance has a wait up to 60 days for a clearance from the bank. That is one of many hoops to jump through to get off the chain gang.
I have seen many guys come here and this was the best job on Earth , all very positive looking forward to a long career but around 18 months is breaking point , now many desperate to leave more desperate than they were to get in in the first place.
Remember 1 thing never ever give up a command !
