Gf roster?

What is up with the GF rostering these days? they don't even know where the crews are let alone how many they have/have not. A camel can figure out how to cross the desert better .....?

JoeJack 8th Feb 2005 18:27

Couldn't agree more. But not only these days, for the last year or two I might add. Although you have canadian guys on top of that, they're still trying to clean the s*** that guy who went to Emirates left behind.

ON TOP OF THAT, those incompetents in crew control are all the time sitting outside smoking and chatting... have you noticed that? Not to say the way they treat crew, especially the girls...

Those guys work on a vicious scheme... only way to change it, sack them all and put new staff in there... ops.. they're bahrainis... :*

What if we put some bahraini camels instead? :E

Cheers!!

vfenext 8th Feb 2005 19:36

It's unfair to blame rostering or indeed crew control at the moment. The problem as I see it is 2 fold, first not enough pilots and second a really bad run of tech delays. In the last couple of days it has been a major challenge to keep the whole operation moving, let alone on time. Simple fact is you can't make one crew do the work of two, no matter who you have working in rostering. Those guys just have to deal with the problems on a daily basis so they need some slack. If you really want to blame somebody try the genius who told them they had enough crew to cover all the extra FRA's etc.

ironbutt57 9th Feb 2005 02:34

Yeah..give "Wyatt" and the boys a break things very fluid at the moment:cool:

fractional 10th Feb 2005 20:50

Is Navid still with GF crewing?

SecurID 10th Feb 2005 22:33

they're still trying to clean the s*** that guy who went to Emirates left behind.
Is that why we at EK are now getting really sh!tty rosters?!

vfenext 11th Feb 2005 06:13

Navid no longer with GF and he went to Etihad not Emirates. Look out EY!!

fractional 13th Feb 2005 00:12

Damn right, EY watch this space (forum) ..., for further posts.

tic 13th Feb 2005 00:32

Not trying to back up Navid, but your roster never changed as much during the line, when he was around. At least you could plan your life, sort-of, when he was there. Right or wrong? Now, anything can happen. The old leave system was much better too, but don't know if he had anything to do with it.

mogley 13th Feb 2005 09:33

The simply fact is that our complete planning dept (incl. the Canadians who some peolpe here think will be better:yuk: :yuk: :yuk: ) are a total bunch of unmotivated unprofessional idiots. Although as Tic mentioned things were a lot more stable when the other donkey was around, maybe he was lucky who knows. I also seem to remember that we did not have a many illegally planned rosters before as we od now. Another result of the new planning managers no doubt!!! Anyway as they say "What to do boss?"

jetseat 13th Feb 2005 15:57

Tic and Mogley,
If you are so in tune with what was and what is, please take note that GF is now completely commercially driven. GF is going after the routes that fill the ac. Most airlines that make it now a days do that to make the most of what they have. Since GF can not, for the sake of lifestyle, just do routes to keep the routine....routine. This means schedule changes, our rosters (yours and mine)are the next ones to be affected.
Yes, like every mid east transporter, we are short pilots. As one mentioned you can not get one to do what 2 are suppose to fly. Schedule changes and book offs, that is what affects us all.
couldn't pay me enough to work in crew control on a good day. those guys walk in to a war every day.
As for planning, get the crew to show up and the pilot numbers to meet the demand, you just might see that those Cannucks know what they are talking about. Many in the US have heard of them, talk to pilots or op centers in the majors in Can or US. Even better, try Emirates, save your long distant fils/dhs. they have a following there, would be a pitty to lose them to the not so promising land. Have confidence, my family and I do. jetseat

:ok:

mogley 13th Feb 2005 16:04

Jetseat,
If those guys have such a fantastic reputation world wide how comes they were all out of work for quite some time prior to joining?

jetseat 13th Feb 2005 16:35

Mogley,
This is not a tit for tat, unfortunately you are incorrect. All were employed as per EK pilots comments, and fellow AUH captains, FedEX ops, AC captains and f/o's...etc...etc. They spoke and I held them to every word and reference. They add up. (Bless the internet.)
You will be unsatisfied regardless what answers you get. Ask the questions.
Just don't want to get back to unexplainable rosters. (the way it was). I think after years of dedication I do not have to bring gifts anymore to seal the deal.
That's all.
here's to better things to come.
Jetseat out:ok:

SilicaStorm 16th Feb 2005 08:28

Get your horse blinders off Mogley

Mogley .... it would be appropiate to get your facts straight before putting your unsettled thoughts on the forum. Understand you are a little miserable but welcome to the real aviation world. As for the "Canadians" who were out of a job before joining, you need to complete your homework.

ironbutt57 16th Feb 2005 20:52

Things are bound to be a bit "fluid" for a while, as the airline becomes "commercially driven", and big airplanes go where they should and smaller airplanes go where they should..GF is in a sense being dragged "kicking and screaming into the 20th century" so to speak, and as we know things don't happen overnight...so lots of problems have been raised here...any solutions? Leave the nationalities out of it, and get on with it....anyway, we do get paid for days off flying, and unlike our friends down the pike, OUR pay packages have gone forward..not backward...guess I,m a a "glass is half full" as opposed to half empty person these days....so now that some of us here have raised important issues here, why not offer some solutions? Or do you prefer to sit at home and cry about them?

I,ll offer one...take our lovely 767's and retire them...find 6 parked compatible 340's...phase them in at a realistic rate, and solve the HUGE fleet uncommonality problem which GF can ill afford...betcha a crate of tinnies GT could fill the buggers up and then some...and who cares if it climbs well or not? rather have my paycheck climb than the airplane::ok: :ok:

tundra runner 17th Feb 2005 15:32

roster

You are unbelievable iron-head. GF has been at this for the last 50 years, and thease problems have been around for most of the time. Its all a power game. They monopalize on every front here in the this part of the world. Why would they worry about keeping western pilots happy when across the gulf lies a whole slew of pilots that would fly for aahhh peanuts. Improve the quality of life here and maybe we would stay. It is not always a question of direct salary, but management could evaluate rent, school and days off to enjoy the what we really have.:\

By the way, does any one know which FCL we follow as in the ops manual it states that the DGCA needed to approve the Jaa ones before Sept of last year I believe. Have not seen anything new since then in the aircraft?

airwaya457 17th Feb 2005 17:29

As far as FTL / FCL I don’t believe that the JAA have approved any yet, nobody can agree on subpart Q, but could be wrong.

Butt’s on his happy pills again! Don’t worry they wear off pretty quick!

ironbutt57 20th Feb 2005 00:10

No happy pills here dude, just being realistic....what to do?
