EK doing Qatar trick

Now when all the other ME carriers have started to hire people with just a CPL and couple hundred hours under their belt when will EK follow their path?

It is very hard to believe that EK would not see the same opportunity than their fellow competitors. Giving the same opportunity than Qatar Airways is qiving at the moment for lower timers would save a fortune for EK and create a healthier kind of company structure.

Gentleman that day will arrive believe me and It may not be a bad thing for them(EK).

Not trying to argue-just a fact of life based on observation and now knowing the atmosphere there I hide for INCOMMING!;)

Your post would be better if you spelled Qatar correctly. :ugh: One starts out wondering what the heck you are talking about and then may be able to figure out that you mean Qatar if they know the issues.

In a way, I actually agree with your premise, although I believe it would be more along the lines of a Cathay Pacific Second Officer program. Emirates hasn't done so yet because the First Officers have traditionally upgraded in three years or less. They needed experienced guys who could do that. Now that upgrades are slowing down on the Airbus this may be looked at in more detail. It makes sense financially and it makes sense from a recruiting standpoint. Experienced F.O.s will not be coming here anymore as they see the upgrade time stretch past seven years.

Long_taf
what are you talking about? do you have any clue what the cadets have to go through to get the the F/O position?
I agree this is a gossip network but your post is clearly aimed to wind up the expat community, not appreciated (at least by me...;-) and before you start firing away I am not a local wannabe

Oh yes, Qatar sorry about that typo tend to happen from time to time .

My point was that finally some of the airlines in the ME have started to hire Cadets and FO´s without typerating and/or extensive experience-which is only good thing since they are doing the job very well after all the typerating courses etc. No arguement mented.

long_taf,

you say that "some" airlines are going the cadet/SO route, implying that Qatar aren't the only ones...
I'd be v.interested to know who the others are

cheers

Sure would, GN.

Imagine the 250 Hr. Frozen Atpl guy, never flown anything bigger than a 172 on his own, never been in a cloud on his own, then learns to fly on FBW with all its protections. Then put him in an A300-600.
The first real go-Around would be pretty interesting.

Nothing against cadets, we all started with only a couple of hundred hours but I would think there are more appropriate places to start than in the right seat of a wide body! Cause when SH_T hits the fan the poor guy on the left will have his work cut out for him.
