Qatar Airways’ Switzerland flights launched

Qatar Airways has launched its service to the dream tourist destination, Switzerland, with the inaugural flight QR 063 touching down in Zurich’s Unique Airport on Thursday.

A press release issued yesterday said an official delegation headed by Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, Senior Manager Commercial Operations - West Fathi Shehab, and Regional Manager - Europe S A Ramachandran arrived in Zurich and were received by the Ambassador of Qatar to Switzerland, Fahad A Al Thani, Switzerland’s State Secretary for Economic Affairs, head of Middle East and Africa Division Rita Trier-Somazzi and Unique Airport’s CEO Josef Felder.

The delegation was greeted by a traditional welcome, which included a Swiss traditional group and an official “water splash” welcome by the local fire brigade.

“This is indeed a very proud and momentous occasion for Qatar Airways as it positions itself in the forefront of our industry,” said Akbar Al Baker. “Zurich represents our 53rd global destination, and with its addition to our growing route network, it gives our passengers even greater flexibility to make faster, easier connections to the wide range of destinations we offer.

Zurich is known to be one of the most important financial hubs in the world and, equally, a cultural metropolis filled with a rich history that any traveler would love to explore. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer our unsurpassed five-star service to the people of Switzerland and to potential travelers from around the world who choose our airline,” added Akbar Al Baker. Qatar Airways will fly to Zurich four times a week. Flight QR063 will leave Doha at 12:20 hrs on Mondays and Thursdays to arrive in Zurich at 17:50 hrs local time, and flight QR061 will leave Doha at 02:15hrs on Wednesdays and Sundays to arrive in Zurich at 07:45hrs local time. The return flight QR064 will leave Zurich on Mondays and Thursdays at 22:30hrs, arriving at Doha at 05:35hrs (next day) local time; flight QR062 will leave Zurich at 11:55hrs on Wednesdays and Sundays to arrive at Doha at 19:00hrs local time.
