Basically I want to fly for QR..HELP

I want to work or QR. I have no jet rating and I know for sure they have taken people recently without any jet hours or rating. What is happening at the moment please advise.

Know of a few people from Canada hired over the last little while, most with 757 and A310 ratings though

I would hope to be contradicted but there is no way that you will be considered for employment with any Gulf carrier (unless as a local on a cadet scheme) unless you have reasonable jet experience with, obviously, a rating.

Don't waste your time dreaming - get a job back home; build the experience & then apply.

Basically speaking.

I have known 4 ppl 3 indians with no type rating and with only 200 hrs or so on basic licenses, and they were type rated having signed a bond for $100,000. I also know of some other nationalites who have been given this chance. I love qatar and would love to work their for life!

200 hours only without rating at Qatar?? yea right..... and I am King Abdullah!....Have u ever even been to Qatar?

willfly380 3rd Jun 2004 15:39

you need thousands oh hours of jet time to get in to an airline of that standing. exceptions are exactly 'that'not the rule.get yourself on to any thing that can fly.

PAflyboi 4th Jun 2004 02:05

What about a type rating on a turboprop? (i.e. Beech 1900)

MD11Flyer 4th Jun 2004 03:50

What about a Beech1900 type rating? You need more than a rating to get in, you need hours. I know several people who got in with nothing short of 7000 hours total with at least two jet ratings and over 3000 hours on a "heavy"

ronnie123 4th Jun 2004 04:42

5-6 Indians did get in but with 7000+ on 737NGs and 3000+ PIC time.

MD11Flyer 4th Jun 2004 05:01

There ya go, thats over 10 people with the same qualifications...... so basically think realistically and go get more hours superman, and don't forget to fly without your cape

EuroATC 5th Jun 2004 23:36

I am going by what friends of mine have told me. You don't need thousands upon thousands of hours. A type rating definitely helps though. 2 examples I can give, 1 guy, 3000 hours total flying time all on airbus was offered a contract with QR on A332. The other has just over 1000 total hours all on the 320 and was also offered a contract. Both these guys are friends of mine who worked for european airlines. Both these guys did not sign the contract. As these companies might make you believe that people are busting down the door.....it's not the case. They will have to lower their requirements because they simply are not filling the seats.

PAflyboi 6th Jun 2004 18:05

I guess the bottom line is that the only people the airlines will definitely NOT hire are the ones that don't apply.

MD11Flyer 6th Jun 2004 19:13

How do you have 3000TT all being on the A320?!? or do you mean 3000 hours on the A320. That makes more sense.

JonBoy80 7th Jun 2004 07:21

Superman 32. The answer to your original question is "NO".

EuroATC 7th Jun 2004 07:21

yes the people i am talking about have 3000 and 1000 hours respectively. This is the TOTAL flying time they have because they started their flying careers on the airbus. Many european airlines do this with their kids, not like Canada where a guy might have 2000 hours flying bush planes before he sits in the 320.

If you are playing semantics PM me as not to waist peoples time on this forum

MD11Flyer 7th Jun 2004 10:43

I'd like to know wha european puts their kid at 0 hours into an airbus. So basically your flight schools have A320's instead of Cessnas? or does the student do everything in a sim and never really experiences flying? Very interesting never heard of such kind of training.
