Just email the recruitment teams email, the one you've been receiving correspondence from thus far and explain your scenario with a good time to call and current phone number.

Also try letting your cooler head prevail?

Hello,

Do you know how long it takes Emirates to say if you have passed the HireVue test?
I did it on February 14, and the status of the application is "under review"... Thank you

Just received the link to complete what i guess is the HireVue component. Would it be a fair guess that they are fairly generic HR questions like "tell us about yourself" etc Have 5 days to complete it and wasn't really expecting a response so quickly.
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated

Got the following questions:

1. Tell me a time you had to delegate a duty to your team mates.
2. Tell me about a tradition you celebrate in your country.
3. Tell me a time you had to give feedback to a difficult team mate.
Good luck!

Hey, guys, hope you are doing great.
Can somebody please advise me - how much is the basic salary range for EK8?
I had final interview; it went really well.
What is the absolute best basic for EK8 Emirates can offer?

There was same topic in 2018, but may be things changed slightly?
Also, how difficult it is to be promoted from EK8 to EK9?
Thank you and have an amazing Friday.

Hello everyone,

I meet all requirements but have been placed into holding pool due to not having a boeing/airbus rating atm... 4000+ hrs with over 1000 on 320, but not my current type unfortunately.
Does anybody know how long it takes to get out of the pool?

Thanks

Hello,

I fly for one of the big three legacies in the US currently on the 737. I applied to the future flight opportunities a while back and it shows application under review for the last year. How long does it take for them to offer an interview?

ps. Don’t say why I am trying to leave. I agree the U.S. legacies pay the best but it’s not about the money for me. I have a lot of family in Dubai and Middle East and would be nice to live closer to them.

You would have more time to visit them jumpseating out there for free (an unheard of concept out there) on 15+ days off a month as a line holding legacy pilot in the US getting paid twice as much flying the guppy than you would living and flying in out of DXB unless your family lived in Dubai proper….I’m hardly kidding. I still remember my last roster at EK before escaping back to the US…9 days off that month, mixture of Ultra Long haul, Medium haul and ultra short turnarounds with a majority of showtimes just after midnight! Barely enough time to recover before that little silver Volvo sedan is there to pick you up again.

These days yes, 10 yrs ago that was not the case. Ironic since EK drivers have a much more demanding work environment and brutal rosters. But yup my take home pay as a narrowbody FO is about twice as much than at EK, but that’s besides the point I was making, I work half as much, usually 12-13 workdays a month, I can drop/swap unfettered, I can call fatigued without consequences, I can screw something up and not have to worry about ELOM/QAR as everything is de identified. EK folks deserve much more.

This is not to say EK isn’t a good place to go depending on your nationality, I’m talking specifically to the US legacy guy that is applying to EK!

A few years ago (after the financial crisis) we had a lot of American pilots at Emirates. Now there are very, very few. There is a message there somewhere for anybody who has the right to work in the US if they care to look for it.

It depends what you want. If you want glamour & luxury, Emirates is the place. Staff travel is also good and depending on passenger loads you can book a firm ticket (ID50) if you really need to get back. Once your application goes shortlisted, it'll all happen. Training is backed up so of course there's a bottleneck. If you meet the qualifications you're still in the running.

In terms of the product yes EK is more glamorous and yes something to be proud of, but a mixture of QOL and pay is usually top of mind when looking at an employer. Glamour or no Glamour is low on most people’s list!

As far as EK staff travel it pales in comparison to a U.S. legacy (or LCC even). We can travel unlimited standby on any US (or Canadian) carrier anywhere for free (taxes on intl destinations of course), Business class standby upgrades for free on our own airline, Discounted firm tickets and the normal assortment of OAL Zed fares (many with J class agreements). For someone coming from a US legacy EK Staff travel is not a selling point.

So US now is light years ahead of any other place. Might consider applying for that EB visa.

I don’t know how u guys feel about foreigners joining with an EB visa; I have a couple friends who already got an approval, and a couple more working on it.

Im unfamiliar with the EB Visa but long as you can reasonably fly a plane and have a good attitude no one would care where you are from, the more the merrier! Lots of foreigners flying in the US, not a big deal.
