Tail Strike on Kuwait's Prime Ministers Aircraft
Prime Minister of Kuwait's plane slams against runway as it leaves COP26 (msn.com)
Ignore the sensational Headline but watching the video the tail skid does impact the runway. Question is does the tail skid have a monitor on it that will record the severity or force of the impact and what would be the limit before inspection is required?

Only half a speed-brake
Seem to remember the tail-skid (boot) has a bit of mechanism there. Inside is a crushable honeycomb cartridge showing the severity of impact load.
Keen to learn if the resulting state is actually used during troubleshooting by the maintenance...

From memory of the - 400 it was a crushable cannister that could survive several impacts. There was a green and red go/nogo decal visible outside. It was part of the transit inspection to check that it hadn't gone in to the Red range. No idea if its the same on this version.

Checklist tells you not to pressurise the cabin and land at nearest available airport.
You continue at your peril.
Condition: A tail strike is suspected or confirmed.
Caution! Further pressurization of the airplane can cause further structural damage.
1 Pressurizationmodeselector............MAN
Outflow VALVE switch . . . . .Move to OPEN until the outflow VALVE indication shows fully open to depressurize the airplane
Condition: A Runway Awareness and Advisory system (RAAS) fault occurs.
Note: Some or all RAAS advisories are not available. RAAS alerts which occur are valid.
Use momentary actuation of the outflow valve switch to avoid large and rapid pressurization changes.

All correct
But did they know they had a tailstrike?
I would guess they didn't feel that & would of been hard for the tower to see such a small puff of smoke. Especially with the spray from the wet runway

I had (or rather the F/O, but I was ultimately responsible) a tailstrike during landing a Bae 146-300. The aft galley cabin crew were definitely aware and informed us of the fact i.a.w. CRM training. Hopefully the same feedback here.

Depends on a'lot of factors if anyone feels it or not, have seen multiple tailstrikes were no one felt anything, including cabin crew in the rear.
Hopefully if there was any crew in the back & they did feel it on this one, they would of informed the pilots

Does this actually count as a tail strike? Isn't that skid there to stop the main fuselage structure from hitting the runway? And since the main body of the fuselage did not strike the runway does this even count as a tailstrike?

Yes it counts as a tailstrike, Boeing makes no mention of the severity or area of contact in its checklists.
Although in this case I very much doubt the maintenance inspection would of found any damage. Even the tailskid probably wouldn't of needed replacing.
But for obvious reasons Boeing specifies following the tailstrike checklist if one is suspected, no matter the severity.
