Is it true they don't do the medical as part of the selection, I've heard no mention of one as yet?

No medical at the interview stage, that one is done in Doha at the QRMC (medical center) within the first week of joining. same for the Residence Permit which requires a medical checkup all done right away upon joining.

Thanks EPR, I'd rather do a medical before joining I mean by joining you've already left your last employer sounds potentially riskier way of doing it. I guess moving to a new company has inherent risk anyway.

yeah that’s not the best way to do it… btw I’ve been looking and emailed one center here in Europe but they do only renewal of Qcaa, not initial… I guess only in Qatar you can get the initial

Hey everyone...
So, here is a particular question: I've been invited to join Qatar Airways and as such I am about to resign from my current gig.
As it turns out, my current employer owes me quite a bit of pocket change (under current exchange about 11500 Euros) for over time over the years (which is one of the main reasons I'm leaving) and of course they won't pay up once I'm gone.
I'm debating to go ahead and sue my current company and as such will most likely not receive any letters of recommendations nor a "release letter". Will this affect my future employment with QR?
Thanks in advance!

First and foremost congrats. Why don't you just resign and join QA. Sueing should come after a year or two of being at QA

Eagle don't sue them until you're well established in Qatar, wait and keep your powder dry.

In you can do your QCAA initial with Doctor Orton near Stansted Airport, UK. Just google Aviation Medica Stansted and give them a call or email for more information.

thanks a lot, but I’m just wondering if Qatar accept a medical done outside of their own center in Doha! Did anyone did it before joining?

A QCAA medical is a QCAA medical wherever it is issued. In order to obtain an RP to work in country is a MOPH medical, to include chest xrays and various other things. MOPH is done in Qatar after arrival in country. 2 different medicals, QCAA and MOPH, for new joiners.

That's exactly what I said. If you do it with Doctor Orton at Aviation Medica Stansted it's accepted.

My mate actually flew to China to get his stuff stamped with CSA in their HR department, a lot of effort but it worked in the end I know the pandemic might be causing issues about going down that route. That's a shame about Dr. Orton there must be other AME in the UK that are Qatari approved?
