Kenny I agree, my point is wouldn’t it have been better to use these costs to save jobs rather than just to save costs. You are totally correct they don’t care and never have/will about the workers.

interestingly if they remove living out allowance for pilot grades it would also include the similar managerial grades- so lots of pissed off managers in the Meydan camps too 😂!
One pool for 1500 villas? That’s outrageous😮

Rumour has it they are also hunting down the ones that scammed their way into the housing allowance buying a property and then selling it immediately to another pilot so they could then rent. It is why they are asking for Title Deeds.

Not true. Wasn't that long ago that you got the allowance to rent. So that's legit. Lack of trust and communication creates rumours.

Not quite Don. The Company went from Housing Allowance for rent or own, then to only those who purchased property. There was a time a few years back that the same property in International City (or other similar happy location, thereof) got purchased then sold off to other pilots of the same new joiner course, just to avail of the allowance (by presenting a Title Deed) without the burden of needing to hold on to said purchased property.

The conversion course must be too easy if they have enough time to do that. Also remember that new joiners had the option of renting while those already in the company didn't. Lots of new joiners were opting to rent, while those already employed had to buy a house to move out company accommodation. It wasn't fair, but those were the rules.

There is no rule that states you can't sell your property and then rent. So still think this conspiracy theory is flawed.

You are correct Don, the company probably couldn't win a fraud case in court against these individuals, however, they were very clear that when the allowance was being offered, it was for end-user purchasers only (not for renting). It was the ultimate reason I decided not to opt out.

It seems to me that the individuals would have been well aware that they were gaming the company and knew it was against the spirit of the agreement..

When we were kicked out of B & D division at HMP Semmer, three years ago, the allowance was one of the options. No questions re buying or renting.

I think one of the problems halas is that there is no corporate memory left in EK. Lots of people have taken that allowance to rent. It was only a recent change (relatively) that required a property purchase. But that's how all these rumours start I guess.

It's also interesting how those that aren't actually involved seem to be experts. The new world order I suppose. I hope this works out well for those caught up in it. The extra pressure this causes isn't really needed now.

Those of us living out and renting (at least AFAIK) got the email to say parole has been revoked.

Go straight to gaol (Meydan "community"). Do not pass Go (renew your lease). Do not collect $200 (Live out balance).

Will it be though? I doubt it, there is nowhere for them to go and the company knows it.

So what is the latest situation on accommodation allowance, for someone who is currently taking the allowance and renting, is it possible to buy a property now and still receive the allowance rather than be forced to move to Medan ?

thanks for any advice
