I think the OP is ruminating about whole categories of people getting "cut out" of the program, for example renters vs. buyers, as opposed to further cuts in the monetary value.

My greatest fear would be being forced to move into the camps, with all what that contains of lifestyle change ect. I'm sure that most of those who have settled with the allowance, are happy where they live. I'm happy to have, and appreciate very much having a job under the current situation, but their is day after this pandemic where the marked returns. Many former colleges from other airlines are settling into other jobs or retires early. Pilot Academy's are struggling for students. A high demand of pilots to return worldwide would not be unlikely.
Being forced to the camps would definitely make me set sails when times changes.
I wouldn't on the other hand have nothing against being paid the exact amount for rent , dewa, water and gas up to a suitable level.

Habibi, the company is in a position where they can and they probably will force everyone - who didn't buy into the rotten real estate market - to the hundreds of empty villas and apartments the company has. Thousands of pilots are willing to take that huge Meydan villa that also comes with a flying job and an education for your kids. Personally, I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier.

Let's be honest...that is one of the biggest costs of EK. Cut the allowance of the guys who have had the opportunity to not be axed so others can stay. All should be required to move into company accommodation for the benefit of all who are left so no more colleagues will be culled.

Sorry Sparkly, I didn’t realise that this was only a ‘current’ Emirates employee section, I mistakenly thought it was a ‘Rumour’ forum. As such past and FUTURE employees might be interested in the changing conditions.

If the Medan camps had been built as designed ie with a number of swimming pools, a number of gyms, green areas with playgrounds then maybe it would have been a more enticing offer. However with all the cut backs, which were being enforced before COVID ie deciding to only provide 1 pool between 1500 villas etc etc it’s hardly surprising nobody wants to go there!
interestingly if they remove living out allowance for pilot grades it would also include the similar managerial grades- so lots of pissed off managers in the Meydan camps too 😂!

Totally agree - I'm extremely surprised that they are entertaining still allowing staff to rent from private landlords when they have company owned properties sitting empty. Perhaps some of the private landlords have more wasta and are worried about losing the income?.

Shouldn’t be mad about this. It’s the first thing that actually makes sense.
All renters need to go to MS. It’s a huge waste of money that could have been done earlier to save many jobs.
Idiot HR have been so focussed on punishing crew with a one-off 20k medical bill while overlooking the guys pocketing 192k/year on Accommodation.

Management car park was full last week, something must be brewing

It’s a great shame they didn’t look at these options prior to getting rid of thousands of pilots and crew.
Many may have left of their own accord, they could have saved money and more importantly saved some jobs and allowed some people to leave through their own choice as opposed to being pushed.
Now it just looks like a cost saving measure as opposed to a job saving measure. I also got Kenny’s point, and in part its reason for the post.

Sorry Fired600, I’m not quite sure we are in full agreement. Once people were determined to be surplus to requirements, no amount of cost saving or bailouts was ever going to save a single job.
