I thought they have been running empty flights for quite a while now...I guess they have some kind of masterplan to boost profitability with 100 A380 sitting on the ground and 150 777s flying around the world half empty...It's embarrassing that in most major airports we are the only airline flying the less fuel efficient aircraft (and more prepandemic liquidity reserves than anyone else) . 777 is a rare sight these days, most of the bigger companies are utilizing 787/350s..But what do I know...Our supreme leaders have surely mastered the airline economics and they will get us out of this mess soon

Well, to be fair, the 777 is more than 25 years old and considering that, it did a great job in these dire days. Its range vs. freight capacity made up for half empty cabins better than most other aircraft. Logically enough the 787/350ies will do much better once some pax volume picks up, they are much younger.

The article about a shift in EK paradigm should therefore only be read in respect of a dwindling prospect of reactivation of a lot of 380ies and that's what should bother many stranded pilots around here.

The solution, at least to logically wired brains, would be to pick-up the 787/350 slots of the unmentionable, which is dying slowly but surely, and start working the EK network with them. No 380 reactivation and a slow 777 phase-out. That would mean jobs, but mostly jobs filled from AUH as a compensation, with most probably a compensation livery on them as well. Not the news EK pilots like to hear, but i guess the local brain wiring would rather keep their frames on mindlessly expensive palliative care than cave in to economical logic, so no imminent danger from that side.

My guess is that for the short term EK will work as it is right now. They will observe the pandemic situation in Asia, esp. India, and the pathetic situation a bit further south, before making any decision.

Not exactly what the LWOP like to hear now unfortunately.

what shall they do now
many moons ago STC canceled a firm order (being the number 2 in market ) A350 with the comment „the are too small for us“. And when the finally concluded that the 350 could be a future they where put at the very very very end of the order list - by the start of the pandemic the 350 could have been in operation in a significant number - but precautions arrogance has stop the ideal airframe of joining EK

goods thoughts
only thing - logic is not exactly a middle eastern thing as nations pride - personal pride and arrogance over own infailability will take the slots 1-3 in ranking list before logic is considered

that’s funny
thats what they have done to be what EK was and it’s what happening again - not right now but it will
and no one has started a new route on full capacity - if they want to increase their network they have to do it - this statement is more a mouth peace offer to other airlines/countries to get of the ban list

Some dude’s wife is organizing discount vouchers to use @ Kibsns and also distributing meal vouchers
for these ‘poor’ LWOP guys.
Joke of the year if you ask me……

Dude, make up your mind. I hope you will never have to go through unemployment, been there done that, dont wish that to anyone. With regards to pilots proposing their business plans I think I have all the rights to speculate on this subject. Mind you, I hold a Phd in the field of Economics. I understand that you are a fat troll and I admire your sense of humour but be respectful to those unfortunate chaps....

It’s interesting to see what the Emirates business model is
So fact is holding pilots in back to go with operation once business picks up - in between they don’t care how you survive until the call back. Of course with their t&c in terms how much time u have to return on the call and if you don’t comply u face disciplinary actions.

so looks like the Businessplan is charity!
and this with a vas liquidity at start of the pandemic of
20bAED plus a 7bAED finance support in September

incredible that people still defend this company.putting this together who wants to work for such a slavery in future ?

I know local pilots were excluded from redundancy but are any local pilots on LWOP?

Mr Good Cat

Your message should be pin posted, what a disgrace to read some people’s messages and general tone of the conversation.

yes of course - all of them.

As not true as when I started this thread. And why would they? You can’t blame them / their country their airline. Should not be part of discussions - in fact no matter - what some amazing locals that fly. Please leave them out of this thread

yes of course / after Eid habibi (this Thursday coming up or maybe before Eid - later today or tomorrow or after next next Eid) - either way bonuses for all - I meant Our Great Leader will get slice and citizenship. Someone did mention above but all fellow pilots chose to ignore, yes great leader is as local as the camel riding the Lahore taxi driver.

at the moment the biggest discussion is - what other countries aside from India and UK can EK make money from? As stated above - they are bleeding, bleeding beyond control......

to save face / the biggest issue is to make Expo a reality else it’s another thunder blunder
