Well said.
Xulu seems to think that the LOWP guys are on an extended holiday, with full benefits. Have some empathy xulu. But as usual EK pilots are only capable of thinking about themselves.

Totally agree. Too long living in Dubai for many has made them grow up into big babies and now they are completely lost in the real world (some of those made redundant.)

Doesn’t take much to understand why people like xulu were on the redundant list.

If we communicated to each other here just as pleasantly as we converse(d) with each other at Costa in Departures waiting for our Frapadapauccino, this forum would be a far better place. Don't let the anonymity of this website get the better of you. After a marked uptick in demand during the festive season, the trend vector has steadily pointed south at EK since then. The closure of what was our largest market based on capacity - India - took things to a new low in recent weeks and we are in for a long recovery with many bumps on the road ahead. It's going to be a long time before TC is sitting next to the campfire singing Kumbaya and telling the world how marvellously well EK weathered the pandemic.

The company have always said there are more than enough 380 pilots flying the line at present and the recent recalls from LWOP are based on the flying program increasing this summer - an increase that is gradually looking less likely if the company wishes to match capacity to demand. As a result, the stress levels of those who are on LWOP who have not been recalled, will undoubtedly be increasing and perhaps considerably so. We need to help and support each other to get through these tough times.

Don’t be so ridiculous . If you want team work, compassion and unity amongst colleagues this isn’t the place . It’s every man for himself here and always will be. Plenty of stories of redundant guys having our colleague vultures going into their house trying to buy everything cheap , think some of our elite got some amazing deals on car at the expense of many asked to leave.

Its not their fault they were fired. If they needed to sell the car quick then they should have been prepared to take any offer. If I was in that position I’d try to get a good deal.
Great opportunity to get stuff at bargain prices.

One of those vultures then are you Nimrod? I was subjected to many! And just to clarify redundancy and firing are two different terminologies. Look it up. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

There are some disgusting points coming out now and nothing to do with the original topic. Really showing the depths some people are willing to stoop to to do over fellow colleagues, and with some apparent relish as well.

I agree, time to close this as it is a disgusting display. I even wonder if it is EK moles making the points to try and shut it down.

I have seen plenty of teamwork, compassion and unity amongst pilots during my time here. As the saying goes, treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself.

On a broader point, succumbing to vitriol and snide remarks on PPRuNe portrays us as a laughing stock. There is plenty still to discuss, given the company is presently limping towards a recovery and closing the thread would be premature, especially when the financial results are due out so soon.

With Qatar taking pilots back seemingly fast and furious, what’s the deal with EK? Have they rehired any pilots? I know some LWOP guys are on their way back, but anyone for the 777?

How are the 777 guys rosters and monthly and annual hours now in both seats?

The reason for qatar calling desperately the triple pilots back is:

Qatar salary reductions and redundancies 😬

There is a big difference between paying a fare price and kicking colleagues when they are down. I had some really shocking offers on my car and other items when I packed up, not fare prices but taking advantage prices.....that’s the difference. Luckily I sold to others who paid a fare price.

It means nothing. When things got bad fellow colleagues couldn’t wait to get a good deal on a car or furniture at expense of pilots who were in the middle of a nightmare.
To be honest Emma, we were a laughing stock long before the pandemic started. Only guys with massive egos couldn’t see it .

Like with anything in life, there will always be a few rotten eggs but to say most of us are vultures doing laps around Meydan South looking to rip off a colleague whilst on the hunt for a bargain, does a disservice to many.

Correct. They kept all the industrious pilots able to adapt to the situation by taking food stamps from their neighbours, who are obviously the next Sully waiting to happen.

It’s testament to the care and diligence EK showed the redundancy process.

A strict list of competence was produced, and no stone was left unturned in ensuring its accuracy.

Success.

Latest rumour: Most of the A380s will be flying end of this year, less work for the tractors.

Where are the Pax coming from ? Australia might not open until 2022, India who knows . Turkey to join the U.K. Red list . Transiting Pax restrictions is the worst case for the ME . But six months from now could be a lot different ( in a positive direction)

They won’t be able to fly anywhere near half the fleet be end of the year - simple because not enough pilots
without ULR the crew factor is around 5 and pre COVID it was 9 (including ULR) so make the math
without contracting a massive amount of pilots there will be no „most of the fleet flying“
for the hiring process itself takes a month to set it up, 2 month to get a reasonable amount of people throu the pipeline, 1 month to make them move and 4 month to put to the line - no way to be achieved until the end of the year as it’s not even open to apply - so it will stay a rumor coming from the propaganda department

And on top the the most critical areas of bussiness like India, Asia, Australia, parts of Africa and because of this regions EK will face a strong headwind as the world knows or don’t know how Pax checked and treated on there way passing Dubai
