Even better where management is giving interviews expressing the importance of the staff and the need to protect them as most important asset - whilst never addressed the employees and sent out emails

being a number isn’t the worst part as it is a hugh company - but it does not mean you have to kick employees with your feet - at least stick to published self made rules without constantly changing or breaking them to satisfy the ego

a employer has a social responsibility - that’s why normal countries have at least some protection for workers by law

and now some will say that does not even apply to Europe - it can tell u it does

so far if u have close look Into the numbers off pilots who have lost their jobs - in most cases the company does not exist anymore or has given up a complete branch of operation (Norwegian) or taken a significant and not temporary downsize
All others like LH,KLM, AF, OS,Swiss BA have found ways to protect workforce in a wide range not to 100% but at a very good level

ME3s have not take one step to protect employees - just cut the cost to blast how well they manage and it appears they are now looking to cleaning out the operation by as sim checks have hardened to get finally rid off the „bad apples“ so for some it’s not over yet

nobody could have seen how ME3 will handle a crisis at the day you joined - that they will put you down for surgery, a complicated disease or the pregnancy with complication of your wife
if Somebody joined knowing, it’s questionable why u decided to stay and not run on day one,
because all off the reasons mentioned are not in the individuals hands - and hope for the best is not a plan, at least not for a pilot
It can be hard, strict, aiming only for the best of the best and all the top guns out- that’s ok
but EKs are not better than anyone else and just because trainers can make you feel **** after a check, or management ignores you does not mean the have to treat people like they do - that’s actually a philosophy which starts at the very top and I mean HH and the Sir - Arabian arrogance paired with a certain old school superiority - this mix is fatal for a companies pyramid of power (not to say the Arabian region loves a book of a German guy from 1930/40 as a guideline to lead)

It tells a lot when a bank does not trust an EK employee for financing a loan or mortgage where the big boss of the bank and the airline is the same person.

ME3 are by far the most unethical most immoral pieces of the human kind and they are infectious in their way as we have seen with DT in HU- country

thanks for sharing your luck

if there would have been a LCC in Europe with such good conditions, ME3 would not have a single European pilot, nor would a certain branch of LCC exist - but they don’t exist.

the future of Aviation is 2000-2500euros after tax for FOs. The average rent is 800+ euros a month not to speak about other cost. And 17 days of is a dream of ever pilot - again a dream

I would also agree that everybody who complains about red eyes or, complaining of having to work in the cardiac low should not consider long Rang flying as a job and rather stay in short haul. It’s part of the deal in long range aviation to live on the wrong side of the day and it’s definitiv not for everybody. It’s shift work and not everybody can adopt to it

so be lucky u got that job- enjoy it - but please don’t slap others in the face by blasting how well your Life is while others struggle to feed their families
thanks

It’s worth pointing out also that the pilots on LOWP had their bank accounts and credit cards frozen the day after they were placed on unpaid leave.
So fleet gave the list to the bank?
The inhuman treatment goes on even for the pilots still there.
But it’s ok everyone, Vthoki2 is on 200K per year and has 17 days off every month.
Thanks for that mate.

And it’s solely because the big boss(in his split personality as an Airline chairman) does not believe you will have the liquidity as an employee in his own company

Still fancy a stint flying LH. These big carriers aren’t for everybody. there’s a selection to pass. We still require a certain level of ability ... I think.

We did have a few prop pilots for a short while but it upset the Southern Hemisphere lot so they just kept failing em in training! Failure rate was really high.

In the last 5 years it has been harder to get a job in a decent European carrier than to get into EK. In fact not a single person I know who has interviewed for EK has not gotten the job, none of them bad pilots but astronauts they are not, and majority only there because they failed their assessments at BA. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Yes we had many years of updates from the company saying they were not struggling with recruitment. And plenty of people wanted to come despite offering “enhanced packages”for a “stint”

sorry to say EKs selection process was a joke compared to others across Europe or what I heard of the CX one
passing EKs selection had nothing to do with ability

Yes, I can imagine it’s quite difficult for Africans and Australians to get jobs in BA.

I can guarantee that EKs selection is in no way easier than the Cx one. In fact they are very similar. If you mean by the way they select the successful candidates then is a different story

May I ask how you know it was based on sickness alone?

Having spoken to many of the guys who left from the 777 at the time, I didn’t come across 1 single person who hadn’t had surgery, a critical illness or in ladies cases pregnancy. There may well have been people who had other cases against them but I didn’t speak to one, yet I spoke to many. I also had it confirmed that it was a defining criteria by a source in the know.

These young guys were just overwhelmed by the weather and stuff going on around them!
Don't worry paule737, you too were a young sprog who most likely didn't start his career doing night turns to India in the monsoon. Like you, they were learning on the job. Like you, the Captain you were flying with felt he was running a one man band while you were changing your underwear into fifty shades of brown.

One day, they might only just reach the lofty heights of that you seemed to have now achieved (and seem to enjoy being).

We all know that there is no training in EK. Only checking.
Australians and South Africans who are incapable of teaching.
You all know that was the case before you shout me down.
Probably that new FO you are belittling had been through an extensive checking course and felt he shouldn’t or couldn’t ask any questions.

I never really understood the fanfare about the turboprop pilots. There are reputable legacy airlines that have recruited many turboprop pilots as direct entry FOs onto their wide-body fleets with no fuss being made.
