well honestly I could talk and talk about a place called Dubai and yes there is not only one problem down there, the list is endless - but I also consider that as drift of the topic.
and hoping that ek will suffer from things like how a princess feels - it’s not going to happen as said tourist don’t know and don’t
and by the way - Dubai responded to the UN request with a statement according to news

Anyone who has had dealings with local authorities will now exactly where expats stand . I have said it before " buyer beware" very unpleasant. Guilty until proven innocent in a kangaroo court, almost impossible . Everyone at EK knows of the Captain obtained at check in thrown in prison , not jail, totally innocent. Needed his embassy to make Ahmed aware of how "his system " treated one of his Captains. I could on but that's just one example .
Mo will buy his way out of this , nothing new. If the UN goes strong arm on UAE then things could get interesting Until that happens business as usual in Dubai .

UN? As corrupt as UAE, so no remedy there. Only the deliberately blind expats still believe they live in some form of paradise.
For the wise, leave with dignity and leave legally; never return unless work requires.
UAE is a god-forsaken place, although the locals will claim otherwise. Home is better, if not as rewarding in $$$.

Roy. Completely agree. Left in 2016, enjoy the good things in life but stayed out of the debt bubble. As you say left with dignity intact and unlikely to return except possibly to visit friends. Nobody could have predicted the pandemic but everyone could predict the lack of compassion dealing with the aftermath from EK and the ME3 in general.

Roy and Olster said it best.
I got out when I did. Clean slate. Head held up high. Smiled at the immigration officer when he stamped my passport and asked if that was it. He confirmed and I was on my mary way.

Such dignity and integrity on display here.
Why are you boys so involved in this thread if you haven’t been in EK for 5 years or more?
Just happy to see everyone struggling I suppose? Delighted to see all your colleagues out on the street? Is that it?

I agree with you, Joker. A very sad situation and I have friends both sides of the redundancy divide. I chose not to dignify the previous poster with a reply.

The difference is that people who left did so on their own accord with jobs or plans in place, and left into a far different world than the ones who were made redundant. They were forced to leave suddenly, had no jobs to go to and little chance of a decent job in the future. It’s so easy to leave when it’s your choice and your ready.

Goretex : you left five years go aged 50. You give your present age as 91. Looks like you might have lost the plot without a current plan too. - Er, I'll do the flight -planning mate (!).

I agree, but that would already be good news. Those numbers are on the optimistic side, I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't see any redundant pilots being recalled before Q4, best case scenario.
Fingers crossed UL guys get back flying this summer season.
