Red face Typical EK response

That’s not a very nice way to talk about your colleagues. Even funnier because you say to look after each other. Typical EK pilot response.
Sounds to me like you don’t know what you’re talking about....

Some very questionable people like a European lady who struggled to make Captain and was then demoted and only just passed again were kept.

Much better people with a small amount of sickness were binned.

it was done on cost. Not quality.

Look after each other. It will be a bumpy ride ahead.

Guys. Many of our friends and neighbours are going through hell. Please let us try to stay calm and be helpful to one another.

Let the so called EK Management be judged on their actions without posters detracting from it.

You are a cost. We don’t care about ethics or morals. We get rid of the costliest assets with no view of safety. We screwed up on jet fuel pricing but make you pay. We throw your kids out of school. We don’t and have never cared.

Let that message stand for Clark. And all the AAA Assholes with three pictures on a wall in their offices.

It is poor form to single out any one individual and complain that they still have a job.
You and I do not know who is “better” or “worse”. You do yourself a disservice.

The company made a decision to make people redundant based on a particular matrix. We can guess as to what criteria was used but the truth is that none of us really know. It is best to leave that to them rather than fall into the trap of thinking some people are more worthy than others.

I hope that those made redundant, myself included, can use this event as a catalyst for a positive life change.

That's a bit mean, spar. I don't think you should be naming people like that. And the person in question was not one of the vindictive types who seemed to delight in making life miserable for the pilots. There are much worse in there.
Please delete it.

Chief Pilots - Airbus

With the A380 fleet reduced to a rubble I would image there is no need for 4 chief pilots on that fleet. Any idea what has become of these “fine 🤬🤮” chaps? Particularly the expat ones?

To all the “mates”.....it is Japie, not Yarpie!

Japie is a typical farm boy’s name.....khaki shirt, shorts, rugby socks and boots......get the picture? There is no such thing as a “Yarpie”!

Rex, the problem with your post is the patronising (condescending) tone in which you made it! Someone gave a warning of impending disaster, but you decided to treat the messenger like a naughty school boy/girl. So did you have any proof to the contrary or did you just type that message after a few cold ones?

You now trying to justify it, is a bit late. It’s blatantly obvious who is soooooo full of credibility and who not!

Just apologise and move on!

By the way, we are all still waiting for that official announcement you were looking for.

Hedge ineffectiveness on jet fuel hedging 1.1Bn Loss

Report link to download and view.
Emirates reports a profit of AED 1.1 billion (US$ 288 million), 21% up from the previous year
Company Audited Group Report 2019-2020 1.1Bn Loss caused by Fuel hedging. (page 64)
Google search STC and HH quote several years back we don't hedge fuel. (Arabian Business 10 May 2018)
Senior Management were called out by the Financial Auditors in the report (page 81)
Audit Report states part of its fuel hedging is done 24 months in advance (page 127)

Mainstream Media including the more active aviation blogs continue to overlook Fuel Hedging along with other "points of interest" located in the Financial Report . Unfortunatley drowned out by the 24/7 Covid Noise and instead reprint the PR garbage given by STC and other talking heads.
Perhaps the next time STC gives a Sunday Times interview or chats with Richard Quest on CNN then they will ask real questions like why do you refuse to engage and discuss
Redundancies with your staff many, who have been working for you over 20 -25 and 30 years instead of giving him a free ride and blaming everything on Covid.
While your at it ask why .....
The very person who staked their reputation on having so many A380 Aircraft at Emirates, recall ,was the same person who cancelled the 2004 order for 70 x A350 in 2007 then approved an order of 50x A350 in Nov 2019 the same person whos abrupt departure from the airline was announced after Xmas 2019, the same person who we heard nothing from until only a few months ago in the media only and the very same person who refuses to speak or engage with his staff.

Ask those questions will you next time MainStream Media when you engage and interview STC and Senior Management from Emirates. You know some real reporting. And FFS stop accepting that Covid is the root cause of this mess. Management bungles were made and now the eggs are all hatching.

Answering an Arabian Business question during a post earnings press conference, Sheikh Ahmed said: “The team we have knows how the company is run and if they suggest it then we will. But right now there are no plans. We will not hedge.”10th May 2018

2 very senior CC I personally know let go this week... neither with any blemish on their record. One at one point a trainer, PUR and loved by anyone you'd mention the name to...never a bad comment of the person.

Absolute fecking disgrace EK. No way to explain except for throwing darts at the tiny photos that make up thst 30 foot mosaic in HQ arrivals...

That airline will never get a cent of mine again. I'd rather row there in a flywire boat

Anybody know anything about accom allowance ? Is that continuing? I never knew why people got so invested here. Not a good time to own a house here, regardless of whether you are jobless or may well be next month. I remember flying with a gentleman who kept on about how I need to buy ASAP because they are 'stoppin it' Fortunately, I didn't listen to his great advice. Said property is now on sale on Facebook.

EasyJet using 'sickness records to decide job cuts' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53360847

Seems to be catching! In an (allegedly) 1st World Country!

There is more to this “getting fired for sickness” business! For many years on this forum, many pilots were saying “just press 2”. I always thought it was dishonest and unfair to the poor colleague on standby. It seems as if this practice has turned around to come and bite us!

Just to be clear, I am not talking about real sickness, I am talking about faking it because you don’t like your roster.

I didn't know getting Cancer, having heart problems etc was faking it. Good to know. As these are the colleagues we had shown the door.

These millennials haven't learnt about empathy yet. But they sure are quick to say “I told you so”

P

Are you not the guy who’s native tongue is English? I included my last sentence just for guys like you!

I will say it again, I am not talking about real sickness. I am talking about people constantly saying they will press 2 every time they think of “punishing“ the company or don’t like their roster. Obviously the powers that be have cotton on to this and now many innocent people who have suffered real illness have to pay for it.

I hope this makes it more clear.

On a level playing field, yes, that would be the case, but as you know, we are only guests here and different rules apply to us.

OK boomer.
Isn’t it great how all the companies problems are caused by millennials?
