I also think there is a correllation with raising fatigue reports in the past. Nearly all of them I asked did raise reports this in the past.
And for those familiar, we are not doing legacy carrier rosters here in EK. The Triple had the most brutal rosters in the world awhile back (2-3-4 years back with max 8 to 9 days off a month including indian night turns and ULRs back to back). So many skippers raised safety flags (reports) at that time for which they now might pay the price.? That might also explain why the junior guys all seem to be safe (as rosters are less brutal now)

I know EK are traditionally bad with employee relations but this has reached a new low. I am very sorry for all those who have lost their jobs. The sycophancy towards EK on LinkedIn is nauseating. Well done to the Bognor bus driver for having a sociopathic lack of empathy to your safety critical staff.
It's almost like they don't want any experience, flying instinct, backbone or decent pilots arou... oh wait...
(That's not to say those left dont include the above, but the extremes they are going to frankly boggles the mind)

They're cutting out the roots of the CC community as well. At this rate the survivors in the flight deck will need to pack their own lunch, the remainders will be too busy kissing pax a$$ (more so than currently) down the back in fear of their jobs to attend to you...

Local pilots are not on 100% pay. This I can confirm. They are on the same 50% deal everyone else is on. Most have housing allowance, so when they say how much per month they receive this amount will be included. I know this because I recently had a conversation with a dude and did the double take when he mentioned his take home pay. When queried I discovered he had included the allowance.
Must’ve seen it on that WIFi. Proves he’s not a boomer.

Approximately 200 Unmentionable Airways cabin crew have allegedly been told to drop an unfair dismissal lawsuit they recently filed in an Abu Dhabi court against the airline or be evicted from company-provided accommodation. The redundant cabin crew were laid-off in the last few weeks as the company seeks to downsize because of the Corona crisis but have been allowed to remain in Abu Dhabi until lockdown restrictions are eased and repatriation flights can be arranged for them to return home.
The group of foreign expat cabin crew have allegedly filed an unfair dismissal claim because Unmentionable has so far failed to explain the criteria that were used to decide who would be made redundant. Hundreds of cabin crew have already been laid off and insiders claim more redundancies are to follow in the coming weeks.
While Unmentionable acknowledges that cabin crew, pilots and other staffers have been made redundant because of the “unprecedented challenges” brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline has so far declined to say exactly how many employees have been laid off.
During an online meeting with the 200 ex-cabin crew, Unmentionable representatives had sought to reach an “amicable decision” where it was highlighted that company provided accommodation was an additional benefit that they did not have to provide under the UAE’s labour laws.
Sources claim the crew members have been asked to provide proof that they have dropped their case in order to receive the original settlement order, including the right to remain in company provided accommodation – a common perk for expat cabin crew in the Persian Gulf.
If the crew members proceed with their claim, any subsequent legal case could take between six months to a year to be heard.
As of August 2019, Unmentionable had 20,500 employees, including nearly 5,000 cabin crew and 2,184 pilots. The vast majority of Unmentionable's Abu Dhabi-based workers are expat foreign workers and their right to remain in the UAE is tied to an employment visa. Unmentionable has agreed to extend visas for laid-off employees until repatriation flights can be arranged.
Unmentionable plans to have resumed services to as many as 58 destinations by August, dependent on the further easing of lockdown measures and border restrictions. Residents and citizens of the UAE are now allowed to travel freely to and from Abu Dhabi but tourists remain banned from entering the emirate.

My friend was a cabin crew at EK for more than 15 years. Impeccable record. Married to a fellow crew member. Few days ago she notified them she is pregnant and went on pregnancy/maternity leave. They terminated her 8 days later with no right to appeal. I am honestly shocked at zero consideration they are giving to their long term staff... It's like you're even less than a number

mmorel is 100% right. you should see some of the sycophantic comments by EK staff that got fired and complementing EK on social media, Linkedin etc as if EK gave them the chance of a lifetime - never knew it was better to be unemployed and stuck in a country that isn't mine with cash running out. When things get better, loads of them will be coming back with lesser T&C. they are sucking up now to get that access again - mark my word this will happen.
