it is written in there..
Australian travelers are not expected to be able to head overseas until at least the end of this year, although there may be easing of restrictions on interstate movement in the months ahead, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Guys all the new generations want to do is travel travel travel. Give it a bit of time and it’ll be fine.
When the governments are faced with starving masses locked down for weeks and weeks, they too will rethink the travel bans.

I’m not sure what dreams everyone is having about a major comeback to going on Instagram vacations. This bloody virus has reached the corner of the globe thanks to incubator airplanes. In face EK is the one who gifted NZ their first positive and spread it across the country
and you are all telling me that UAE has the lowest rates in the world. Their economy is on the verge of collapse - begging India and Pakistan to take back their citizens. Think about that for a moment
no one is going on holidays for a while. Millions of people are out of bloody jobs, their least concern is holidays on Emirates.
people really need to stick their head out of their bums and look around at what on planet earth is going on??????

People won’t travel for holidays but I would expect business men and students to travel this summer. There will be some flying. The world cannot shut it doors for too long without falling into a crisis of a different kind

If governments take this standpoint then I struggle to see how many sectors of society will be able to cope. Shall be interesting. Probably good for pensioners and future generations. For those of us who need to put bread on the table, not so much.

Brilliant response
Can we have an award category for "Most tone-deaf, ignorant, and self-centered response to a global tragedy"?
There are some peerless winners on this thread. Imagine sitting in your free home on half-pay for doing nothing, tossing crap at the airline who has your back, whilst your jobless pilot colleagues around the world are wondering where the next grocery money is coming from.
You are worthless human beings.

I personally will reserve any praise or gratitude for my employer, until after we have navigated through these turbulent times. Whilst I am obviously appreciative to still be employed when some others in the industry are not so lucky, there is still no light at the end of the tunnel and the toll this virus will take on the company and the industry, is still unknown to a great degree.
Many legacy airlines around the world are retiring aircraft earlier or are placing newer airframes into long-term storage, with the largest types most likely to be culled. EK has the highest average seat count per aircraft than any other airline has in the world, which is a great accolade to have when you can find the passengers to fill your aircraft but it places it at a distinct disadvantage in times of weaker demand for travel. Whilst it is comforting to see that the state announced two weeks ago that there will be some form of equity support, the fact that it has reached this stage highlights that EK is no more immune to the unpredictable times that lie ahead, than any other airline is.
How our management performs in the months ahead will bear a direct correlation as to what type of airline there will be in the years ahead, along with if there will be any long term sacrifices to our terms and conditions. Once the dust has settled, then I will be only too happy to express my gratitude to my employer, should it be deserved but until then, the jury is still deliberating.
On a side note, the silence from STC is remarkable given the unprecedented times we are in!

Time to let the German do what actually needs to be done...assuming he is still there.
[QUOTE=The Outlaw;10750324]STC has NO idea what he is doing in this type of environment, he only has the ability to spout how "we just do it better" when times are good. Let's just see how "we just do it better" works when he effectively needs to cull about 40% of the workforce just to stay in the game for the next 2 years.

STC is always pretty when things go well. He can’t bluff in covid so he’s going to bow out in June and take his cash when he can. The German left 15 months ago - he would not change or cannot change this mess of an instagram airline. It’s all on Adel and Adnan now. Will pull the straw soon to decide. Too bad pprune is banned in Dubay or possible publish banned like the EchoYankee down the street.
40% is the wishful thinking but they are dreaming of less. Did anyone see the BA EK incident couple days back. That’s what happens when you pay 1700 dirhams a month in wages to push back a 1.2 billion dirhams aircraft
jokes on you (the ones who decided to take the 50% salary cut) and hoping to fly to Chennai weekly.....
EK is already begging banks to loan on top of sheikh Mo support. Sheikh mo and son are safe and sound - wait till amnesty international can’t be paid and start leaking the outbreaks that’s already showing up in Al Ras, Naif (heck all of Deira) and the labour camps - as I said they are begging pakistan and India to take back their citizens and pop up hospitals in WTC?? Hmmmm if all is well why do u need to have pop up hospitals. Did anyone check that they claim they conducted 750K covid tests but only 5K covid potisive - that makes uae the safest country by default. That itself is a clear clear lie.....

The Echo was not a particularly successful Submarine.
Your observation about number of confirmed virus suffers to tests done is in error. The UAE has been almost paranoid in its testing. I know crew that have been testes 5 times, due to flights, all results were negative.
Where other countries are only testing where other symptoms of infection are present, the UAE has been testing a far wider community group. This is why the rate of positive results is less.
I don't mind people telling what it is really like here, but this weird conspiracy stuff just ain't right.

donpiz I’m definitely not trying to stir a conspiracy theory here and hey we are on pprune after all
yes they are over testing because they are paranoid and I agree that’s not a bad thing but also the numbers are statistically impossible. And some of the hard working gents that work here from South Asia have not shown up in days and have said many of their roommates are in fact under the weather in satwa. So I am sure the authorities are doing their very best to care for them - I’m also not doubting that but you really think they will improve housing or give a rats bum when this is over?? They will still be underpaid and still living in wretched conditions. And yes as I still have my expensive latte and enjoy the view it is definitely definitely definitely definitely bad here at the moment; even the air feels wrong so no this is a rumour group and no this isn’t a conspiracy, you don’t make 1700 dirhams a month and feeed all your 10 family members....
read between the lines and what the media spews here - half of it isn’t fact. That’s all and there are many many crew who have tested positive btw so let’s not put that on the back burner

Well there certainly is a lot there to try and interrupt. From latte drinking through numbers in rooms. All of that was happening pre virus right?
Yes people are testing positive to the virus. Yes crew have tested positive to the virus. But this has already been announced. It's no secret. Yes the numbers will be higher than the 460ish a day that are reported. But that will be true everywhere.
The virus wasn't invented here. The high density housing conditions will mean that infection numbers will be high. That's what happens in third world countries. It's not fair, but it is the way it is. Was like that before you got here, will be like that after you leave.
Do you remember when all the capts and married FOs lived in nice villas in Jumeriah etc and everyone was generally pretty happy with their lot?
Do you remember when in and outgoing crews were allowed to mingle at the TBF and have a smoke and everyone was generally happy to be there?
Do you remember when you could bring in DF alcohol?
Do you remember when the rosters used to come out by around the 19th or 20th?
Do you remember when you could bid for pretty much anything without petty restrictions?
Do you remember what that system was called? The one before the one before the current one.
Do you remember when they paid the full education cost?
Do you remember when there was no "s" in "crewing"?
